Wheelbase +0.2”, length +0.9” and height -0.4”. 50% more torsional stiffness, lower center of gravity.⁣

Gained only ~37 lb, still has standard LSD and 6 MT.⁣

    No turbo

    New 2.4 liter makes 228 hp versus old 2.0’s 205 hp.⁣

    Redline is 7500 rpm

    18% torque bump: from 156 lb-ft to 184 lb-ft.⁣

Peak torque now happens at 3700 rpm, versus the 2.0’s 6400.

They finally put a decent tire on the car - Michelin Pilot Sport 4

Fake engine sounds thru the speakers but i think this is a good thing because the old motor sounded horrible.

Sounds pretty promsing. Pretty surprised they didnt go forced induction with this one but kinda glad they didnt mess with the original formula too much. Jury is out there on the exterior design but I dont hate it.

2022 Subaru “NSX Vantage RCF Taycan Escape 1st Gen BRZ” BRZ.

I think redline is actually 7000rpm based on research.

Anyway just gonna throw the ol fuck this car in...

Why so much hate? Seems better than the last one in almost every way.

Insane they didn't throw a turbo on it (or at least have the option), but aside from that, seems decent to me?

Will wait to see the reviews first and see... Torque change is better but still looks under-powered. Looks are questionable.

Feeling mixed right now as there is nothing exciting about it.

No turbo no care. I loved my FR-S but the lack of low end power was always a deal breaker. Nice to see a bump to a 2.4L but it's just not enough for me still. I get what the car is meant for but personally I'd rather see the weight creep up by 50-100lbs and boosted up to over 250hp/250ftlbs to be fun. Even a tiny little turbo that spools fast would make it so much more fun.

Looks wise it looks like a step back.

Not even going to touch the drivetrain. But it’s not nearly as pretty as the last gen.

I don't understand their reluctance to turbo this car...

If this car was ~300hp from factory it would be an incredible car! instead its still a very mediocre car.

Am I missing something here? Is this a $50k car or some shit? What are you guys expecting?
Or to be more specific, what are the competitors in the same price range? There isn’t much out there that’s cheap, rwd, lsd. I’d certainly rather drive this than the dogshit 20 year old 370z.

Wow, STILL no turbo. I'm genuinely surprised they didn't offer one given how much backlash this car gets for being so underpowered, and with the engine coming from a company specializing in small turbo 4cyl engines. To keep the cost down? I call BS. It would add almost nothing to the price and there are loads of cheap turbocharged cars. They could also simply add a 'premium' model that was turbocharged. It's still going to be slow af in Calgary too.

maybe one day we will thank toyobaru for not turbo charging. Without it, maybe there will be a few surviving examples in the future that weren't boosted until they exploded like most affordable turbo cars.

It's quite a tease that they keep showing WRX/STI and all the rally cars as their heritage and then shows up with another non-turbo engine.

But if it address all the issues from the last one, you just have to put this in the same category as MX-5 and fine with it if it top out at mid $30K.

Not a big fan of the front bumper and that plate mount especially for US who doesn't need front plates.

I think the general feedback was:

Original looked great - cool we're going to redesign the exterior and make it a lot more curvy
Original handled great - cool we're going to update the chassis to make it stiffer
Original lacked power - Here's 23hp/26ftlbs good enough

It's not arguing it isn't a good car, it's just the biggest complain for the past 7 years is it needed more power to compete with todays cars. Going from a 205 hp 2.0L to a 228 hp 2.4L just isn't much of a bump.
