    Default Kids STEM kits/projects

(don't know where to put? general? electronics? Campus chat?) Move if ya want.

Wondering what you guys have found that your kids like in those STEM build a whatever kits?

Something that they use more than 1-4x then becomes a pile of parts ignored in the toybox to be destroyed and thrown out by dad next bedroom mess cycle...

What has/hasn't worked for others and for what age range?

It's so hard to choose. For younger kids, the stuff at mastermind toys is reasonably good and not expensive. If the kid is older, there's lots of coding games online. Minecraft, roblox etc? I dunno. Not really a one size fits all stem option. The kid has to be interested first.

Card games are good at teaching math usually.

KiwiCo running a massive sale now. Remember to rakuten.

Not sure if referral for $10 off a box works in conjunction but I guess you could try?

Yeah I'm wondering about the snap circuits etc.

He loves sitting down with me and doing the arduino projects - but was hoping for something he could do independently. He seems to hate the programming part as much as I do.

The lego technics I think he just gets frustrated on the parts being too much smaller than the whole. The build process is way longer than his attention span.

The little rc robot kits - I think have been too limited for his imagination, only a couple ways to assemble then he wants to do something different, and after 3-4 tries it's broken.

Yeah, the kiwi kits are great, but still end up just cluttering the rooms afterwards. The kids love the build part, but then the item usually just sits around until the next cleaning cycle.

    How old is the kid?

I just bought some kiwi crates for my oldest - I find the 5-8 year old ones a bit too simple so im trying the tinker box thats for ages 9-16 for her. That code merry right now saved me $50
