Like here, in Canada? I know that's a weird ass American thing but the only people I've ever seen in my life do it here either wear slippers or have like dedicated inside shoes and that's mostly because their house is tile and hardwood floor (and to be fair that's only my father in law).
Agree. This is a Yankee phenomenon.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

I feel this is akin to when they told the children to "duck and cover" in the 50's in case of a nuclear attack. Sure, it *might* help, but it's mainly designed just to make you feel more comfortable there is something you can do to protect yourself.

Just remember that we are still taking off shoes and belts and having your carry on swabbed for explosives at airports.

I think duck and cover was to help the cleanup crew, not the children.

As for the workplace shoe thing... My guess is someone in the office has stank-ass feet and the person who proposed this is using covid as a cover for it.

Not sure what airport you are talking about, but as a frequent flyer at YYC and YVR, i have not had to take off my shoes in years there.

I see people doing this in most Canadian airports because in ‘Mercia it’s mandatory(I think). Canadians need to stop watching CNN.

Close your eyes. Now try to imagine which finger I'm holding up.

Oh yeah, people are freaking out, and I honestly don't blame em. A tray of disenfectant solution to walk through is probably more effective. I've seen those when flying into NZ.
I think I posted in the other COVID thread, my mom has been in 2 care facilities recently. Same company, different locations. First one, just te,p check sanitize hands, fill out form.

The latest one, has 2 trays of solution at reception. You have to stand in one for a moment. Stand in tray, sanitize hands, fill out the "no I'm not sick" form, get temperature check" get a visitor tag, then wash hands with soap and water. Now you can enter.
