any airdrie recommendations? So far i'd say most of our food options are serious crap, but hard to get decent food back from calgary before its shit.
Only thing I bother taking out in town is Main Street BBQ and Paul's Pizza lol. Abe's is decent too.

How is takeout ramen? Been craving some since winter began. Seems like its one of those dishes that really needs to be served and eaten right out of the kitchen. I've ordered takeout pho and its never as good as in person - broth needs to be reheated, noodles turn into one big lump on the way home, and it just feels like the portion size is not as large as when you dine in especially the amount of broth. Might try making some at home this weekend.
Pho is pretty easy with an Instant Pot. Parboil the bones for 10 mins, toss the water, put bones in IP & cover with water along with toasted spices. Co-Op sells all the bones you need.

Shamless plug for a friend.... Gong Cha has location in Chinook Center, my Mount Royal College (near Valentine Volvo), Cross Iron and soon to be Market Mall location. They are also in Harvest Hills near T&T but not like CoCo which is literally next to it.

Lots of locations if you need your Gong Cha fix.

Can't stress enough that we need to keep these guys going. Best Laksa in the city.

Does anyone know where to get an uncooked Turducken in Calgary?

Sorry, not really the right thread but didn’t want to make a new one
Do they have that insane grocery store called... Fuck... I can't recall the name of it! There was one or two in Edmonton and I bought Turducken there. It's extremely expensive.
Something ____ Market? I'll check and try to update the post.

Edit- SUNTERRA MARKET!!! @BavarianBeast it is SUNTERRA MARKET.

Thanks Roopi! Chicken apple turducken it is this year.

Are they as good as they sound or should I cook a back up bird?
They’re good, CO-OP usually stocks them, I assume you can get them straight from Spolumbo’s as well but I have not confirmed. It was a number of years ago that I did one but no need for a back up bird.

Tried Big Catch tonight; not bad, refreshing from the basically identical offerings of most takeout sushi options

    Big Catch is ok.
Some of it was great but some was meh.
I didn't like how the red vinegar they used on the rice didn't match well with some of the fish. They should be more careful with those flavors.

It is different though I agree.

My family likes Kinjo for sushi, but it's not really sushi what they are eating. I am the only one that eats actual sushi like the Tuna, Salmon, scallops, etc...they are eating "hot beef rolls, and the like but they are freaking expensive.

However, we are spoiled in the north here for all the great places for Pho.

An Zu is pretty solid. One time they screwed up my skip order and 10 minutes later, I didn’t even bring it up, their chef showed up in a smock with my corrected order and I got to keep the wrong stuff. Solid.

    White people sushi. Never change.

My wife always wants it “go for sushi”. My wife also won’t eat seafood, classic.

I don't know much about sushi, but the vibe at An Zu is really nice. Used to eat-in there back in the old days pretty regularly when the wife and I got date nights. Felt pretty "Authentic Japanese" to me.
