What is the reason then if not politicization? Are republicans just generally dumber/don't believe in science? Or are the traditional anti-vaxx hippies/suburban moms now identifying as republicans for some odd reason? Or maybe conservatives generally want to appear tough compared to the liberal soyboys?
A lot of low income earners likely can't afford the time/travel portion of getting a vaccine. I think that's a huge portion right now. There's been a few articles that low income areas have a noticeably lower uptake. If someone has 0 benefits and working multiple jobs its likely hard for them to book a time to get the vaccine as well as take into consideration what if they get sick for the day after (which isn't uncommon) and they lose a days wage. Federal government needs to pass some kind of protection to ensure time off and support for any reactions. Alberta was quite smart to mandate time off for vaccines tbh.

Also on a good note, Alberta updated it's data site with some nice vaccine info finally. Looks like ~80% uptake of vaccines among those that have been eligible for a while. Considering there will be some people out of province (snowbirds) as well as those that likely will get it when they can just get it at their local pharmacy that's pretty good to see.

Also 25% of the 40+ age ranges already is also great to see. Hopefully we are close to opening up to general public as soon as Pfizer doubles our shipments.

Alberta rollout is going pretty well overall. Need to keep that momentum up as the next few shipments arrive. Staying over 40k/day is niiiice.

Will be weird when they run out of AZ branded jabs, but whatever. Mr. Pibb is just as good as Dr Pepper.

Bruh, we’re getting PC cola - literally.

    But we’ll take take it

Just got an email from Shoppers / Loblaw: We can’t figure out our online vaccination booking, go find a pharmacy yourself.

It is ridiculous but it’s true. 45% of republicans say they aren’t getting it:

Now that said, I would bet money that it would be the opposite if trump was still prez.

Only in America could something as benign as a vaccine (created by scientists, not politicians) be so politicized.

Edit: here’s the actual poll if you don’t want to read the “fake news NYT”. Scroll down to #34

I don't know what the Trump anecdote has to do with anything? It's a pretty standard Republican ideology to be personally responsible for yourself, and not want the government involved in your life. It's not surprising that people on the right are hesitant about a vaccine being rammed down their throats by the organization that has lied to them and stolen their hard earned wealth for their entire life.

They've been out of the AZ vaccine for a week anyway after the province restricted supply to AHS clinics after implying it wouldn't. honestly surprising any pharmacy choses to be involved in this. It's more hassle than it's worth.

Can you guys point to a white paper or something please?
    https://psyarxiv.com/f9jq5

    TLDR Among Republicans:

A Republican (In this experiment Trump) endorsement reduce hesitancy by 7%

A Democrat (In this experiment Biden) endorsement increase hesitancy by 10%

And guess who is on TV day in and out asking Americans to vaccinate?

Doesn't that just mean one side of the political spectrum is more swayed by a box with moving pictures? The fact that people are swayed based on an endorsement rather than logic says a lot about those kinda of people...

I don't think the type of media is in question and this experiment is only aimed at Republicans so there's no data to compare on the other side either.

But isn't it human nature that if a guy you didn't like or picked tells you to do something, you tends to tell him to fuck off regardless if its good or bad? How many ppl in US is always in the "not my prez" crowd?

I have to say I am surprised it's stalling before it hits 50%. I thought US vaccination won't stall til it hit the high 50s/low 60s.

Lol you guys are hilarious and have the memory of a goldfish.

Go look at the reactions to "Trump's" vaccines when he was still in Office. Countless liberals/progressives saying they wouldn't take it because they don't trust Trump.

Kamala Harris said on several interviews and also during the VP debates that she would not take the vaccine made under Trump's watch.

You guys see only what you want to see.

    Exactly my point.

And if you want data, CDC got all of it:

    https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#vaccinations

I have a feeling if Trump is still in office the rate would have been much better but prob by another 10 or so points. There are just too many anti-vax and anti-gov loons out there.

Regardless we are all better for it if Americans now can spare doses around the world.

Because with the Chinese vax, you do get 5G with it.

What kind of underlying illness do you have, if you don't mind sharing? Obviously a personal question so ignore me if it's too much.
Healthy mid-30s with no underlying issues. It was offered to me so I took it, second shot scheduled before end of May. I don’t believe I should be anywhere near the priority list but I don’t make those decisions.

A shot in the arm in any capacity is good for everyone at this point. There has been plenty of time for the high-risk-for-severe-outcome category to get booked in so like ExtraEncouraging says, book in under any means and get your doses not only for yourself but for your community.

He's in Sask and you're talking about an Alberta policy so I doubt it. I'd say he works at a small town muffler shop with a bar attached. Maybe Milden, Sk?

My understanding the only way to get the second shot is to get called some period of time after getting your first shot.

Good to see we are keeping employment up. Must be 200 staff at the convention centre.

Wait, what? What is @tirebob doing then?! He could have a gentleman club beside the tire shop. Maybe a Joint Venture with Tint Tech.
    You know, to create jobs.
