This makes me think you're older than I previously would have thought, haven't heard many under 50 call it the dose. And if you don't know what I am talking about I have aged myself.

Possible that persons 1-5 get slightly more vaccine, measured error, meniscus, angle of eye from measurement line, syringe size manufacturing variance, nurse eye sight, wrong kind of syringe used, etc. Then person 6 gets the lowest dose with a few of those items compounded.
Pfizer don't care, paid regardless. Gov't doesn't care, they need to get vaccinated stats up.
Maybe it works out but maybe the virus gets stronger like people that only take antibiotics until they feel better or nothing happens and the person is just unaware they're at full risk of covid infection. Guess time will tell.
    You'll never know if you're person 6.
    Snipped.

What makes you think that they would administer an incomplete dose if they couldn't get the full volume out and thus fucking that 6th person? I guess I can understand how you got there in your head, but they would just count that as a loss and administer a full dose from a new vile. We'd still get fucked as a general population as we would essentially lose a portion of the total doses we were supposed to get, but individually we wouldn't get skimped on a dose. On top of having nurses in my family and circle of friends confirming this, I've also been that person at a flu shot clinic where there wasn't quite enough in the file so the syringe and vile got tossed and I got the first dose of a new one.

I don't get it. Hinshaw explained the whole thing in detail about this situation like a week ago when it was news. How that they can't source the needle that required to get the 6th dose and that EVEN with all the right tools they can only extract 6th dose 75% of the time.

How that become someone getting an incomplete 6th dose boggles the mind.

Now if we get the same deal as US, I'm onboard calling it 6 dose:

An anonymous source told the newspaper that Pfizer and the administration had hammered out a deal to track which shipments are armed with low dead space syringes and which are not.

Under that plan, vials without the specialty syringes would still count toward five doses out of Pfizer’s overall 200-million dose order, while those joined by low dead space injectors will count as six.
Why would we let Pfizer deliver 20% less what they promised if we don't get something in return that get us that 20%.

Because show me this past record of execution excellence so far in this pandemic? I have yet to see anything that warrants trust in the Canadian government's processes.

I'm hopeful you and Xtrema are correct on the nurses making the right decisions in vaccination process.

You have figured out the Canadian government accounting gap when they release future data on costs vs population vaccinated and they'll say they have no idea why it costs more to vaccinate Canadians or cannot account for these "lost doses".

There are wastage. Hinshaw posted a number last week like single % figure.
    https://theconversation.com/covid-va...minimum-152772

Indicative wastage rates start at 5% for single-dose vials and are at 15%-25% for 10-dose vials.

I mean, when you have a shortage, and we do, let's get creative.
    Asking the real questions!

But forreal I still haven’t seen a reasonable answer to this question. If the vials are part of the same batch/lot number then why not combine them?

My smooth brain tells me that whoever does the mixing will now be liable if contamination happens.

Also sounds like Canada approve to go along with the 6th dose like US/EU
    https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/corona...ials-1.5301485

So now we either lose the 6th does and keep going or a vaccine shortage has turned into a syringe shortage.

With the changes we now get 400k doses next week and 475k the week after. Pretty huge considering we've only got 1.2 million doses to date.

IIRC Canada ordered the special syringes already and part of the hold up was waiting for the first batch of 2 million syringes to arrive

Edit: Canada ordered enough syringes for 2 doses for every Canadian with 2 million here already and the remaining 60 million arrive through April and May. Shouldn't be any syringe shortage thankfully. Health Canada did good with this and being proactive

As we've already been shown, what we ordered and what we get are two very different things.

"Hey guys, yeah you can start using reusing those needles 10 times, you know, to be environmentally friendly, so we're just going to consider our order fulfilled"

So Pfizer's former VP and Chief Scientific Advisor has filed a petition to halt the trials, and trial protocols say pregnant women and those who want to become pregnant should not take the experimental vaccine. But but for this doctor..., it's Good for you!

Shit you not, that's exactly what a Filipino nurse said to me as one thing why we are so wasteful compare to her home country. I have to do a double take and question if the needle in me had been in someone else.

Wife got dose #2 (NICU) - Worked out to only be a couple weeks late in the end.

Now we wait and see what kind of zombie she becomes I guess. I'm hoping for slow-ass Romero, I'm older and fatter now and prob can't get away from her if she goes 28-days later style.

Typically she's dealing with a couple months or weeks early. So I guess this is a change.

(had to say it, someone will find the sadistic humor in it)

This is what happens when you take revelations’ advice and vaccinate political leaders first:
    https://globalnews.ca/news/7642624/p...cret-vaccines/

I wonder if the citizens of Peru trust the vaccine more now?
