my understanding is that carbon black in tattoo ink is relatively inert. Other colours I'm not so sure about. But the mechanism here seems to be specifically related to the ace2 receptor and spike protein binding domain so dr. been indicates that using a different protein target for the vaccines could prevent that risk i.e. use small portion of spike protein rather than full length protein and select that portion that doesn't pair w/ ace2

These are Gen1 vaccines. The next generations of covid vaccines will be better. But we had to get the damn things out the door.

That's not really how it works with mRNA. The vaccines we have right now are incredibly powerful at targeting the spike protein of the original covid virus and worked exactly as expected. To do better we'd have to include future potential mutations, which I guess would be possible as future wide-spectrum vaccines.

I just love how smart we all are regarding vaccines and viruses.
We could all basically get a PhD in microbiology tomorrow.

I think there were enough internet PHD’s, but since Covid they have been growing exponentially.

The university of YouTube with an affiliate program from Facebook has really taken off.

Got a booster shot yesterday but it shows up as a prescription under “Comirnaty”

Is this what’s supposed to be expected?

That’s the marketing name for Pfizer’s vaccine.

My bad; didn’t add enough info.

I checked my health record today and my booster shows up in the “prescription” section and not the “immunization” section of the app. Is this normal?

It'll probably move in a few days. If not call in to get it moved.

    - - - Updated - - -

Does seem like good uptake on third shots. Appointments booking several weeks out for many (most?) locations.

Kind of dislike the way they've set up the website, it's less friendly for the individual, but probably the simplest way to get jabs in arms, so maybe that's fine.

Personally I thought the process was wicked convenient at the mass clinics, but costs must be lower for local pharmacies.

I find drop ins at your local mom and pop shops are better than the chain ones but the success ratio is dependent on the day.

Got lucky because it was insanely cold last night so no appointment went

I have a mental block against walking in. Not really sure why, but I do. Glad people are doing it though.

Who was the guy breaking down how many first and second doses the daily counts included? Be nice if the first doses were still happening. Probably mostly kids now, but every first dose is very socially important. Third doses much less so.

It’s the 3rd graph on this page. A trickle of first doses, little to no second doses, and mostly just 3rds

We cancelled our booster. Originally booked for the 23rd, but the pharmacy was overbooked by AHS.
AHS told us that the pharmacy had 2 slots per booking (30 min block), so we booked together. We show up, pharmacy can only handle half of that, so we're told to come back an hour later, and we might get in. We hop into the car, use the site to cancel our appt, and now bookings are out to Feb in my area. I told my wife to get jabbed downtown while she's at the office, and I'll figure something out closer to home.

As someone who lives in the dirty deep south I just booked in Okotoks, short drive and was able to get bookings a month earlier than anything I was seeing for Calgary. Prob booked up now I would imagine though.

I felt like ass yesterday, no fever and chills like the second shot but just felt hella bagged and sore.

Feel much better today though, a little tired still but pretty normal feeling now.
