Export controls are now in place, Canada is not listed in the exemption. Can't wait to see Trudeau standing in front of a camera later today to tell us how this isn't an issue and all those deferred Pfizer doses will still be here on time.

It was always funny to think that the EU was our friend, almost as funny as thinking the Americans are our friends.

I'm not sure what kind of contract talk/language could have side stepped this?

The answer has always been throwing billions away to have the ability on our own soil. But nobody like money losing businesses, especially ran by government.
At this point can’t do anything. Just criticize UCP for criticizing Trudeau haha.

Realistically we shouldn’t have waited so long to start contract talks with them. China gamble failed, and EU basically doing the same as China now haha.

Trudeau, and the minions who still support him, will still have absolutely NO idea the rest of the world finds him a laughing stock. We would have been so fortunate to only have someone like Trump as a leader, and that says a lot.

It's not a question of globalism but fundamentally misunderstanding how nation states behave. There's no such thing as friends or anything else along those lines when you're talking about nation states. There's just temporarily aligned interests. If you're looking at things from a real politik perspective you should be advocating for Canada to build nuclear warheads.

How much is Pfizer set to profit from all these vaccine sales?
Apparently not much, their stock price hasn't done sweet fuck all.

UK managed to vaccinate 600,000 people in a single day this week. Pretty stark contrast to the speed it's rolling out in Canada, even normalizing for our smaller population.

So now that EU isn't going to export vaccine, what is Trudumps plan going to be to get more supply?

The rolling review allows for much faster approval once the final results from clinical trials are complete.

Novavax is the fifth vaccine maker to submit an application for rolling review. AstraZeneca, Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna all submitted in early October, and Johnson and Johnson followed suit at the end of November.
We may see AZ/JJ approved before Novavax.

Having AZ available on their soil made all the difference. I would assume that may also give them more data before Health Canada approves it.

UAE (Sinopharm/Pfizer/Spunik) and Israel (Pfizer/Moderna) are winning the race.

China gamble did fail due to geopolitical issue. But China is doing the opposite of EU, they would have got everyone inoculated in about 9-months to 1 year but instead using the vaccine for diplomacy. So Chinese vaccine are all for export for $ or favors. This created a black/fake market as people (not in position of needs) in the country can't get it thru official channels.

    95% effective again original

89% effective against B.1.1.7 (UK variant)

60% effective against B.1.351 (SA variant)

    https://theconversation.com/results-...-matter-154293

    Other notable:
Efficacy of 95% was reported for the two messenger RNA based vaccines from Moderna and Pfizer. For the AstraZeneca vaccine, an average of about 70% efficacy in the pooled analysis from the UK and Brazil was reported. For the Sputnik V vaccine, it was around 85%.
Now I slowly understand why Fauci called the SA/Brazil variants ominous.

Jay Butler from CDC on vaccine herd immunity:
Experts estimated that 70% to 75% of Americans would need to become vaccinated against the original COVID-19 strain to create herd immunity, Butler said.

"If a more transmissible variant becomes the predominant strain, that level of coverage needed to achieve herd immunity would be higher, and could be even in the 80% to 85% range," he added.

19 Year Old in ICU for Inflammation of the Heart Muscle After taking Pfizer Vaccine
    https://www.jpost.com/health-science...ination-657428

He had experienced an accelerated heartbeat, along with shortness of breath and sharp pains that were radiating down his left arm.

He had no underlying medical conditions. Why is a Healthy 19 year taking a Vaccine for something with a 99.99% Survival Rate. Even if he gets it, he'll most likely not notice or recover quickly with mild symptoms. For prevention, just exercise, and take Vitamin C, D3 and Zinc. We all have an Immune system.

I hear this argument a lot and it is misleading.
The UK is a island smaller than Alberta with a very high population. Sixty six million to be more precise. More people to deliver the accine and more people to admisiter it. Alberta has a population of 4.3 Million spread out.
Canada is not just a country, it is also a very very big continent.

I would argue that your take is more misleading. There's nearly no one (if not literally no one) in this country that can't get to a doctor/pharmacy/clinic within a day - realistically probably much less than a day - to go get vaccinated. And between doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and whoever else can do it, we have a shitload of people capable of delivering the vaccine.
