The mandatory vaccines for all AHS employees is coming up on Halloween. Does everyone realize how this will impact us if they go through with it? You know that probably 10-20% of hospital workers are not vaccinated, right? And the hospitals are currently overflowing?

Let's see what happens when they send a significant chunk of hospital staff home if the patient levels are similar or worse than today.

Medical students are required to have all their vaccines up to date prior to their placements. Why should covid be any different now that it's a fully approved vaccine?

If people want to throw their career away and this is the hill they choose to die on then that's their problem. The mandate waited until Health Canada did it's full review to give the vaccine full approvals nearly a year after the interim approval.

Calgary is 85%+ with at least a dose, one would hope those in the medical community would be above the average so I doubt it's anywhere near a 20% staff loss. And if it means that Karen in HR who has been telling everyone she works at the hospital and covid isn't as big of deal as the media is claiming well ... Punt the bitch.

I also should have noted that the affected unions have (surprisingly) agreed with AHS. The Anti-vaxxer hospital workers are not going to get union support.

Given that the risk of blood clots is significantly higher--by orders of magnitude if I am not mistaken--with COVID than with vaccines, just go to a COVID party and you'll have good chance at providing your own.

Ok - I just gotta say, THIS is the kind of stuff the anti-vax crowd needs to bring to light if they want to be taken seriously. I could not find the original article on The Lancet (I didn't search long), but at least that's a legitimate, peer-reviewed publication and if this came from it, I would consider the study on the up and up. (The Guardian itself, not so much).
