Seriously though, my pea-sized brain sees the thought process of mixing MRNA vaccines but, two different types makes me wonder.

my pea-sized brain thinks soonest protection is best protection because likelihood of nasty side effects from Covid19 is much higher than from any combination of vaccines. I also consider myself a higher risk of contracting covid19, so I don't personally want any delay in getting as many jabs as possible as soon as possible.

We literally do it all the time. Flu vaccines and pneumo vaccines are all over the place on branding and mechanism. Nobody notices or cares and we all have had some random assortment of them over the years.

This is a perfectly reasonable position. The most reasonable, even.

I'd make a couple of changes:

We're not really "test subjects" by any useful definition of the word. There IS too much data to consider any of these experimental, especially from a safety perspective. The vaccines themselves all essentially function in an identical fashion, with different delivery mechanisms. There is a vanishingly small chance that the delivery mechanisms would interact in any way - especially in a way that creates a safety issue.

Unfortunately when it comes to vaccines, you're faced with a binary choice: to get it or not. So we are forced into making a decision based on imperfect data. This is different than making a claim that needs to be supported by data. This is a case where you need to take knowledge + imperfect data and make a binary decision. In that case, we have to look at what we know about the biology of the immune system, the nature of the vaccines themselves, and the dangers of NOT getting the vaccines.

In my view, the vaccines are simple and unlikely to be dangerous mixed. The mechanisms are identical and unlikely to see reduced or dangerous mixing effects. COVID is still a danger.

All of this points to mixing as being perfectly acceptable UNLESS there is zero cost to not mixing (ie a delay).
