That was my thoughts as well. Hopefully this convinces some of the boomer "shopping" crowd to just get AZ, ASAP

I asked my Metis brother and if you are in the 40-55 age bracket with no preexisting conditions, you get the AZ shot too, so those who were wanting to "shop" for different vaccine options, that's not going to change anything. Although, I personally think that everyone, even my Metis brother, should have no hesitation getting the AZ shot.

Reversion to the mean is another statistical concept that's been put into a dumpster and set on fire.

Millennials are shopping, too. I'm not sure that Boomers can shop since AZ isn't in reach for their age demographic. Is it?

Anyone over 18 is approved for AZ by Health Canada. NACI, which is an advisory committee, has not yet reversed it's recommendation about giving it to 40-55yo, but any boomer can get AZ.

Boomer age starts at 57, perfectly fine in the NACI approved range.

My 63 yr old boomer friend in Penticton is furious that there was AZ vax in Kelowna but he is not allowed to get it. Then they drop it to 40+ and it's all gone. Allocation was based on at risk health regions.

    What?!!?
I thought we were one of the dumb countries that said "we're gonna take a closer look and in the meantime, no one over 55 will be getting AZ anymore".

If I'm wrong why did I think that?

AZ is currently recommended and being distributed to 40-64 year olds. AZ is not recommended over 65 in Canada at this time. It's not however because it's unsafe or anything, it's just that AZ's trial data didn't include enough people in the 65+ age bracket to properly estimate its efficacy to the older populations. That's all.

Officially anyone 18+ can be given AZ, it's just NACI's recommendation to be 40+ while they look into the reported clotting concerns and <65 due to a lack of trial data.

It wasn't recommended by NACI, but still legal. It all depends on how much a province aligns it's rollout to NACI.

The younger people are generally the ones on the front lines and most at risk of exposure, the fact they are the back of the bus is ridiculous
    Younger people?
I haven't seen a young person working a grocery store till for years.
They're all recent immigrants from my prejudice standpoint.
Young people are busy, packing house parties and buying bitcoin.

I think anyone under 40 is "younger".

Grocery store I'd say its a 50/50 mix between youngens and middle aged people. Retail though is almost entirely young people, same with fast food/restaurants as well.

Got mine this afternoon. Solid hour and a half in there with all the barriers and 15minutes after to wait out any reactions.

Now to party like its 2019

Opening up strategy seems to be working well. Got 16,000 AZ shots in arms the last 2 days (according the the beta dashboard which has been unreliable in the past but seems to be working now).
    . That’s a big win.

Unfortunately they are discontinuing the “beta” dashboard tomorrow which has provided all the resolution into vaccine doses... just when it seemed to be working. Hopefully they get some
Vaccine data into their tableau dashboard tomorrow.

I think you are suppled to call that dashboard a "soyboy" now, that's the new term for it.

I worked at a coffee shop for a couple years in high school. I’m throughly aware of what a soy boy is.

With how quick the AZ uptick has been I hope we push to get more. US is still sitting on ~20 million doses supposedly. Get another few million from them and open it up to anyone and let them choose if they want to take it or not. Over 42k new doses today is huge, 1% of population in a day. We should be doing everything we can to maintain that rate going into May when Pfizer boosts shipments further.

I still don't know exactly what that is, but I imagine it's something like Jonah from Superstore, except wearing a toque in summer and a way bigger Karen attitude.

I heard (I still need to find the source on this, so it's probably irresponsible to say this without personally verifying) that the US is more vaccinated than we are, but Canadians are doing so at a faster rate, and that might be because the vaccination rate is hitting the immovable object of vaccine hesitancy.
Whether it's Black-Americans' skepticism given their history with "vaccines" and the health establishment; Latin-Americans worrying about potentially being deported; or Native Americans who have similar skepticisms with the Black-Americans. There's a chance that the US may never actually hit the number for herd immunity. That doesn't include the conservatives who refuse the vaccine on religious or "scientific" grounds.
