Since the vaccine hesitant and anti-vaxxers are fair game for shaming, if we weren't in 2021, where the majority of social media interactions are heavily influenced by leftist culture - would everyone be just as open and willing to shame the overweight and obese who are literally weighing down hospitals?

Everyone, myself included, has enjoyed harping on anti-vaxxers clogging up our hospitals in this latest wave, but would it paint a different picture for people if we knew that wasn't really the issue and that regardless if someone is vaccinated or not vaccinated the reason why they are in the ICU is because they are simply a fat fuck? Last I checked the US said around 80% of their COVID hospitalizations and deaths were obese and overweight people, so I can't imagine Alberta being much different and I've tried looking for our numbers but I can't seem to find anything.

I feel like if we took all the energy spent shaming the hesitant and anti-vaxxers and put that towards promoting and shaming people into living healthier lifestyles, we could have actually prevented a bunch of hospitalizations and deaths. But we live in a society where someone's diet and the fact that they look like a land whale is off limits.

This came about the other day when I got caught up in a convo with a neighbor who was absolutely going off on anti vaxxers, but I'm looking at him and he smokes a pack of cigarettes and downs at least 6 beers a day and I'm just thinking in my head that even if he is vaccinated this unhealthy slob is going to end up in the ICU anyways.

But ask yourself. When was the last time a fat person infected you with obesity and shoved a cheeseburger down your mouth?

If we shame fat people. Its only a matter of time till a political party or a movement funded by the fast-food and sugar industry portrays them as victims.

Obesity is not the primary cause thats the problem. Covid is the primary.
Society can make money from smokers and alcoholics by taxing them more. I think if people choose not to vaccinate. Thats perfectly fine. Just tax them or provide a bill for healthcare related costs.

But perhaps a sugar tax is in order?

But that got me thinking down the rabbit hole. In a totalitarian environment, can you imagine a weight credit system...? Imagine going to a restaurant and having to do a weigh in first? Sorry love, but you are a few pounds over we cant serve you or we will lose our business licence. Or a new feature in the car. It weighs you and if you are too fat it won't start forcing you to walk. Then you could have the fat police. Sorry we need to arrest you and confiscate that cheeseburger... You could make a dystopian movie on this with a 80's style theme of RoboCop, Total Recall and A Handmaids tale. Then you could have the resistance fighting for change... join the resistance...the INSULIN resistance... Oh the possibilities...

we have banned smoking from indoor spaces.... i dont see these smokers still running around yelling freeeeeedom(now) .... a lot of place complained about that at the time but now it is common .. you dont go to a bar and smoke inside.

Comparing smoking indoors to people being unvaxed is not the same. Someone who smokes in a enclosed public space is subjecting people to second hand smoke, makes the place smell like shit etc.

A unvaccinated person without covid isn't emitting anything. A unvaccinated person with covid is at home sick. You can still have a vacinnated person showing no symptoms and thinking he's so protected but actually spreading it to others.

What is a person with covid doing out of the house spreading the virus? It's more likely a vaccinated person thinking they a superman cause of the "vacinne" that will be going around spreading.

Plus if you are protected, why worry?

I got no hate for the lofty folks, whether it be by status or stature my man. I was just basically telling him to watch TV/Social Media marketing. Like age, size is now just a number to be celebrated not a reality to be considered (where legitimately applicable/appropriate).
