After everyone who wants a vaccination gets it, sure. My bet is people will be going mask less the day after they get it. There's no data on whether the vaccine will prevent a person from being contagious, or if it does, how long it takes for that to happen.
I kid of course. There still much to learn with data and facts changing daily.

My understanding is a) we are trying to "flatten the curve" so we do not overburden our Health Care system, and b) This vaccine is not a silver bullet, but rather a part of a series of protocols to reduce the Vid (e.g. social distancing, masking, good hygiene, etc.).

I would not assume once a vaccine is taken that you are completely safe and free to disregard all other protocols in place.
I think it is actually the silver bullet, but only when we get enough people vaccinated.

Masks and no large crowds can’t be a forever thing.

Given COVID19 is the 4th major outbreak of coronavirus in the last 17 years and people travel the world ever more than before, I won't be surprised if these measures comes back time and again.

If we have to do this every 3 years then sounds like the human race is going to get the culling it has need

Pretty much everything we are doing is predicated on being temporary, our society and economy can’t sustain any of it.

I don't know that the future holds, but my guess would be when the number of affects individuals drops to an acceptable level is when we can start to see social distancing and other things begin to be lifted - Not the number of vaccinated people.

Just wait until you see how many people will be maskless after they [claim to] get the vaccine.
    Fixed that for you.

mRNA technology is actually really fascinating if you wanna learn about it. As soon as the genetic structure of the virus was isolated January 9th and released to the world, one weekend later Moderna had mRNA-1273 designed. It had been designed before the US even had its first confirmed case and it was manufactured and distributed for trials before the US even had its first death.

Obviously testing is always needed but there's a legitimate chance in the future that the technology develops rapidly enough that we could react incredibly quick (and safely) to a similar future pandemic and have a vaccine rolled out in a fraction of the time.

Undecided until a fuller picture of all the data comes out. Next fall I will probably make a decision. If everything still looks good I will get it.

I am undecided simply because I have preexisting health conditions and I want to make sure something like this doesn't fuck us before I try.

When a new contagious virus starts spreading and turns into a pandemic then yes I expect similar protocols again. But my point was that when we get to herd immunity on COVID-19 we should be back to normal (no masks/crowds) until the next pandemic.

At least I hope this is the case. If we can’t go back to normal after whatever critical mass of vaccinations is required then im switching sides to the anti maskers lol

I don't think anyone is pro-mask / restrictions permanently. Just until our numbers drop and we have a decent chunk of our population vaccinated. Most other pandemics / virus' have been able to be contained without such crazy measures. MERS/SARS/etc were all contained.

What’s the name of your doctor? I’m shocked any doctor would say that.

Thought I already shared this article. We've had the vaccine since day 1. Rapid trials and decreased government busy-body work, likely none of the issues the world have faced would.have been an issue. Imagine if this had been put out within a month.

I expect masks to come off for COVID19 eventually. But picking up wearing mask as a habit may not be bad idea if we keep going into the cycle of 1 new virus every 4 years and vaccine from research to admin takes 2-3 years even in the most accelerated schedule.

Respectfully, fuck that shit. I will gladly wear one while in a pandemic but if the virus is controlled and we have herd immunity achieved then no thanks and i'm sure 95% of the population agrees.

Also now that mRNA vaccine technology is 'proven', vaccine development should be a lot quicker for the next pandemic. If they did this in 10 months, my expectations are that the next one should be quicker or at most the same.

Well, council just extend the face covering bylaw until December 31 2021 with bigger fines and no criteria for repealing it.

So "eventually" will be when a majority of council feels that more people will be upset by keeping it versus repealing it.

Research and trials is 10 months. Admin is at least another 6 before we hit critical mass. Longer if leave it as optional.

And guess what, that Chinese virologist that leaked the genome to Austrian bought us at least 3 months.

This is why scientists need to work without government influences.
