So 1/2 the population is still eligible.... Better cancel everything.

    Sounds about right.

I maintain that I probably won’t be vaccine eligible until October/November.

Yep, exactly why I am glad we are waiting this out. I am medically eligible for a vaccine but am in absolutely no rush. Let others be the beta testers if they want. No doubt more issues will keep on popping up. No definite answers to longer term effects.

All of this despite the ardent adherents to the false narrative that all of the Western vaccines are 'perfectly safe and very well tested' and were immediately castigating anyone who dared to question the 'science'.

At some point later in the year they will probably have an incentive on vaccination to get the last of the fencesitters. Very possibly financial. Say $300 to get the shot.

Personally at that point, I think I'd rather get the actual Covid, isolate for two weeks and take chances. I mean - a vaccine is technically a "weak" crippled version of the actual virus, and if you are a strong believer in "whatever does not kill only makes you stronger" does come into play.

I mean hell, it can't be more dangerous than an electric unicycle.

They'll go through the 55-65 group until it's done.

If you're in that window it will probably up the speed to get the second doses as well.

That's not at all what the Moderna or Pfizer vaccinations are. I'd like to say its your health, go nuts. But theres lots of negative affects of people running around uninformed.

Come back with a correct description of the mRNA vaccines and I will mail you a random nickle.

Its not even how any of the vaccines work. AZ and J&J Adenoviral vector vaccines don't use crippled virus either.

If you don't catch the actual virus, how does your body know to fight the entirety of it.

A mutation usually affects how it attaches to your cells, that is why immunizations sometimes only work for one year. In fact, with the flu - it often only works for one year, that exact mutation. But - if you have caught the actual real flu one time, your body must fight off the real thing. In which case there will be some resistance to most mutations. A millilitre vaccine does not replicate within the body, it is essentially "dead" virus, which means the immune system never has to ramp up to fight an active (and more dangerous) active virus which can literally be 1,000x more mass.

Of course to do that, you do have to risk the more severe outcomes of facing the virus in its full fury. Its a reasonable thing to do once the vulnerable populations and those who voluntarily want the shot all the way down to child, have all got their shots. As is right now, catching the real thing is quite dangerous for everyone, but later on in the year and next year assuming everyone gets who wants the vaccination - it should be a choice to those left, including pregnant women.

Boris made it, so did Trump without vaccine, but not his brother.

The realistic best outcome is to take the Covid-19 shot, but skip the Covid-22 or Covid-23 shot (when they arrive, and they will) *if* you believe in training your body to "fight the real thing" at least once. Give the human bodies ability to combat an actively replicating virus a chance to exercise its legs and get stronger.

BTW: If anyone remembers, back in the old Flu thread I was the one saying that we should have been putting money towards building a N95 mask factory (instead of another mostly worthless unwanted pipeline). In addition to saying that something like this was statistically overdue.

Pharmacies are accepting bookings for phase 2b but only for 1957-1963 birth years so far.

I guess they don't confirm if you have those underlying illnesses?

Yup. They ask you to list the condition in the form when you register (at least the pharmacy I checked), but they won’t validate it at the appt.

how would they even try to validate it? there is no possible system that could verify most of these underlying illnesses that is worth the effort.

I'm sure that's why they are back to age restriction. Only letting 55+ 2b 1st. And if you look at status of all pharmacies, they are booking for May/June right now. So unless there is this magical surge of supplies, I doubt we are getting vaccinated quick enough.

We seems to be doing better than Ontario tho, still stuck at 70+.

    It's entirely a honor system.

Seems odd they are booking May/June. I wonder if/when we'll see large vaccination sites like the Telus convention center open up since we're getting a lot more doses now. 600k doses for AB over the next two weeks, surely those can't already be fully booked up? Unless they expect a couple weeks to trickle out to pharmacies?
