Well we aren't entirely sure about this. It would be more accurate to say that vaccines will eliminate the immediate problem of rising ICU numbers. However there is mounting evidence that vaccinating everyone regardless of status could be setting up another unnecessary variant wave. Not to mention the future healthcare strain from increased rates of Myocarditis and whatnot.
This is why it's silly for the pro-vax everyone crowd to apply the same dogmatic ignorant attitude as the anti-vax crowd. There is worthwhile debates to be having right now that nobody wants to address.
Anyone who gets covid and doesn't end up in hospital, is not doing any part by getting vaccinated. This vaccination percentage number is another meaningless statistic. Unless we have an actual way to rank people on whether they fit into the risk groups for covid, and then we can shoot for vaccinating 95% of them, then I personally don't care about about vaccination numbers. What value are people finding in shit talking people that have already had covid and are unvaccinated? Those people have zero effect on the ICU numbers, and ICU numbers are the only metric left to argue in regards to whether the government should be controlling everything we do or not.
