Default Finished wood help (built ins and cupboards)

So I have some water stains, sun damage, wear or abrasion marks, maybe grease... I read online that you can put mayo on a water spot and it will fix it.. which I thought was weird af. But I ended up putting a little olive oil on a spot and it seemed to fix it. But what should I actually be using?

The left side is before, and the right was previously the same

A light oil is probably just the right thing. If you had some linseed oil I'd suggest that. But whatev.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Yeah any light oil will do, but mineral oil or linseed oil that wouldn't go rancid would be better.

Do not use food based oil as it can go rancid and stink.

Take a picture of the wood and head down to something like Lee Valley/Windsor Plywood etc. who has a bunch of different wood use oils and see what they suggest. I have a bunch of teak, so I use a teak oil.

For water stains, put a dry towel on the spot and use an iron (no steam!) and slowly go over the spot. Start at medium heat and go up if it doesnt lift. Should come right out.

Boiled Linseed Oil... Rub that shit in, let it sit on it for a bit and wipe it off. Worst case use some 0000 wire wool to rub it in. Done.
