It most certainly worked for China, but that would never fly here. After seeing all the shit we've gone thru and I still going through, they 100% did the right thing. No, I'm not a Chinese spy
I should clarified my statement: containment doesn't work in countries that aren't pieces of shit.

I feel bad for CPS, 95% of their job is literally to deal with the bottom 5% of society. That would start to break anyone down
After that they have to deal with the 90% of people that rely on them but hate them. People are always slamming cops but if someone breaks into your house or steals your car who you gonna call? Ghostbusters? They're mostly just "pigs" until you need them. I would be a crusty too if society looked at me like that. In the public's eyes they can't win, even if you're nice and following protocol someone is going to film you, post the portion that they want on the internet and everyone jumps onto the troll train

On the Global News story they had the kid who admitted that they refused when bylaw came by. I wouldn't be in the best mood either if I had to attend that call. That Police officer could have had someone they loved affected by Covid and these punk kids don't give a shit. Props for putting away the taser in my opinion. The fact that it made the news and has so many responses on reddit just show how people are attracted to the idea of cops being bad people
I can't say I feel bad for them. You became a cop. It goes with the territory and every single one of them knows exactly what they signed up for. It's too bad really because there are definitely some really good ones, but there are also some dickheads, just like any and all professions, and the good ones face challenges all the time because of the dickhead ones who screw it up. In the end, I just try and judge anyone, cop or not, based on how they are as humans and how they perform their job. The ones that go a little further to keep the peace and sustain decent relations stand out quickly while the ones that just rely on being a strict authoritarian and expect respect without giving any are hurting their image for all.

This said, the more and more we hear about this scenario, the kid was a total knob and looks like he wanted the confrontation. Me personally, the older I get the less I need to prove myself to the authority, even with me being one of the more "fuck authority" types most my life.

Important distinction, while Canada is a pathetic garbage country, we aren’t pieces of shit.

    That's being harsh
The country isn't a piece of shit, the government is. By that statement does that mean the Americans aren't pieces of shit? I would say they're just as bad

    Out of curiosity,

You genuinely believe the American government is as bad as the Chinese government?

    Interesting.

Wait, you genuinely believe the Canadian government is better than the Chinese government? Interesting.

    username checks out.

Also: hasn't the Chinese gov't reached record popularity in China? (As far as we can accurately assess this.)

It is times like these that I'm glad that 2 out of three neighbors do not have access to a firearm.

Tier 4 lockdown in London going into effect. No idea what Tier 4 means, but its probably plaid on a scale from green to red.

When did COVID first arrive in Calgary? March roughly?

I’ll use myself as an example, I’m in real estate, I’m constantly meeting people, in and out of different homes, always out and about.

But, I wear a mask, I practice social distancing, and I have good hygiene.

It’s now December and nobody I know, including myself have contracted the virus.

I know this is not perfect science obviously, but am I just lucky?
Or you’re just not aware that people you know have it. Someone we both know, he drives a white SRT Jeep, he has it. (I don’t like posting names.)
Very mild symptoms for a few days, loss of taste and smell. Family was initially tested, all negative. Unsure if the others eventually got it or not but they haven’t had any noticeable symptoms.

Some people have been secretive about it for whatever reason. Shame? I dunno.

Others I know that got it are doing drinking challenges because they can’t taste shit and it’s awesome haha.

Someone calls in a complaint about too many people on the ODR and adjacent skate park. Bylaw shows up, calls in CPS for help and they ask everyone to leave the rink and the skate park. Most do but one guy doesn't. Female CPS Karen him into submission (eventually)
This reads like the script of a Canadian porn movie.

I'm only half joking, of course. But which half? Cant say I have any criticism of the CPC, and you know I love Wechat.

It's only shameful if they were doing something stupid when they caught it. The only other reason to keep it quiet is if they wanted the option to leave self-quarantine while they had it.

Could be shame for some I suppose, not in this case though. He never made an official announcement, he simply told people that he regularly chats with.

Early on in the pandemic start late March or early April can’t remember, I had Covid symptoms (shortness of breath, coughing, chest pain, runny nose) and got tested, those 3 days I waited, having to tell people, inform work, etc etc I felt like I did something wrong and hated the stigma of if so I can definitely side with those who want to keep it on the d/l

I was still traveling to India and San Fran as late as February 2019. Both trips had people sick as fuck at work coughing a lung in meeting rooms. SFO was freaking out about wuhan plans landing there. I had no symptoms or anything, once I got back went out with my kids to hang out with their friends, on the way there one kid had zero energy, shortness of breath. Of course the family we hung out with got sick, the mom said she couldn’t get out of bed for 2 weeks from whatever she caught.

Really wish I did an antibody test to see if I’ve had it. Things just lined up and still think we’ve already had it. Guess we’ll never know.
