Huge fail for both sides. The police never should have tried to arrest him, and when they did the diversity hires failed miserably. Then the guy obviously should have complied when they we're physically trying to arrest him.

So when someone commits a crime right in front of the police, you’d expect them just to laugh and walk away? Arresting him was a last resort after he decided that multiple demands to leave were ignored and he decided that the criminal code didn’t apply to him. Or are you confused about what he was actually arrested for?

As for your “diversity hire” comment, I’d bet you couldn’t do any better against him

I don't understand how this is a fail for the police...? Its very easy in hindsight to nitpick what could have been done. But the police have to make a decision on the spot in real time.

Not only that, but I don't see anyone mentioning some of the most important aspect of this. Where are the parents..? If this was me getting lippy with the police I would get a smack around the head from my parents.
If the kid is speaking like that to the police, does he speak like that to his mother? Its a disgrace.

When someone commits a crime that requires a citation, I expect them to issue a citation and get on with there lives. Nowhere did I say that they should just laugh and walk away. Why was there a need for an arrest and how did police have the authority to get him to leave? The rink wasn't closed, there is no public health order restricting one person on the ice, so what law in the criminal code was he breaking that mandated an arrest?

I'm not sure why whether I could take him down, has any bearing on whether the cops should be able to in a reasonable manner, how does that work?
