Default Wagyu cross beef - snowbeef / snow beef

    https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/saska...beef-1.5764253
Wagyu crossed with Holstein, now marketed as "snowbeef" apparently. Takes much longer to raise than traditional beef cows. Made in Canada. Discuss

Looks nowhere close to A5 but I am all for immigrants. Where can I buy this in Calgary?

Probably a better overall cow. Wagyu is cool but way too rich for a day to day beef.

Ah, yes. Legendary Scandinavian cuisine brought to you by the people who eat fermented herring and drink dill-flavoured liqueur.

It's hard to find good mutton that isn't overly gamey.

Ditto. All I know is that wagyu is turning into a real slut.

So what's the trick with wagyu beef anyway?

I seem to end up with it regularly. And I have yet to have it not taste and chew like shoe leather.

It’s very fatty beef. Not rocket science. Sounds like you need to learn how to cook, do you happen to like well done beef?

Ya man. Wagyu is way more tender than the leaner cows.

Not an instapot champion but I'm pretty decent

But every time I've cooked it comes out the same - from bbq, to pan, to crockpot. Marinated, rubbed, slathered in sauce - always comes out awful...

Those nearly all sound like bad ways to cook wagyu.

Pretty much needs to be cooked incredible quickly and extremely hot, like 1800 degree sear with simple salt and pepper haha.

Perhaps you're not buying the real deal. Earl's got in shit for pawning off *Wagyu *inspired* bullshit awhile ago. I think it costs more than AAA tenderloin in PEI which is like filling a Ferrari GT car with V-Power which is like Madonna concert tickets, which is like, essentially too much money for anyone to reasonably consider.

So do it the way I've been always taught not to - pan on high, slap it in let it sizzle for 30 seconds, flip sizzle 30 more and remove?
