Stay safe and don't travel. Keep the price low for the entitled.

I am not mad that they can afford it, and I can't. What I am pissed about is they can't follow the same rules they set out for us common folk.

That screencap is taken right from their own website about the travel restrictions, and yet, they are mightier than us, so fuck it, they can go.

    https://www.alberta.ca/covid-19-travel-advice.aspx

So yeah, I am pissed about it. After being preached at by them for the last 9 months to flatten the curve, and not put everyone at risk. Stay home, stay safe, save a life bullshit, but it's for you, not me, because government.
Except those aren't rules, they are advisories. You can also go down if you want to, there's literally nothing legally stopping you as long as you adhere to the actual rules about self-isolation after returning.

Yeah it's a shitty thing for anyone to do, and we're even harping on our own Beyonders about international travel, but they aren't going against any rules.

Right, they are advisories, and not rules. They also advise not traveling to the island of Mindanao in the Philippines because there is a high likelihood that you will be kidnapped. They don't strictly forbid you from going, but they highly suggest you don't. So yes, I agree with you, they haven't broken any rules "per say" or "technically" - but, you are fucking idiot if you go, especially after preaching to everyone to avoid it.

The government is also advising that the Emergency Loan Program will not apply to most Canadians currently abroad to cover the cost of testing or flight cancellations, as those travellers “had plenty of time and opportunity to return to Canada since the pandemic reached a critical point” this past spring.
Canadians were urged to return to Canada this spring, yet holiday flights were still ongoing.

I wonder if resorts will provide Covid tests as part of the all-inclusive package. What kind of “proof” they want for test results from countries like DR or Barbados.

Jason Kenney will give us a stern knock it off if we all went on vacation like that.

He doesn't seem to care that his own people are in Hawaii right now.

Good optics are only needed for governments who might lose the next election.

I suspect that if they could have banned travel, they would have, but I doubt that’s possible so it’s always just been a suggestion. We know how well Albertans have performed when giving ‘suggestions’ on what to do and when...

We all know that if any NDPers went, the UCP would run them ragged... super short sited by these bozos, which just tells you the lack of respect for Albertans

I will have to watch the press conference on Monday to watch these morons get raked over the coals again.

    So I've got to ask.

Believe notley ordered her mla's not to go - or were they smart enough not to go independently?

She's the only one claiming all her mla's are in Alberta. I'm finding that curious.

Agree with MB and all others in that camp on this one. Sure it's not illegal - everyone knows that. But when the government says things like, "avoid all non-essential travel' and passes laws focussed on keeping people indoors - they then turn around themselves go against what they are preaching, I feel it's very reasonable to be angry.

And Kenny announced later that there will be no reprimands (one went to Hawaii and another to Greece) and it's all his fault for not making the directions clear within the legislature and that he's sorry - well then fuck you, you incompetent loser. Hypocrisy at its finest. None of these pathetic 'leaders' believe in 'leading by example.'

I was confused with another article I read. NDP MP Niki Ashton from Winnipeg was stripped of her shadow critic roles for traveling to Greece to visit her sick grandmother. At least the NDP in Manitoba has a better head on its shoulders - and in this case you could argue that the trip was essentially due to visiting a sick grandmother.

    50 shades of grey

Just cuz it’s within the rules doesn’t mean it’s right for someone in public office. Optics man.

We all have our opinions just like the cerb thread. The ppl collecting didn’t do anything wrong even tho you don’t think they are deserving. Make 5k and collect 18k or make 100k and collect it etc.

Just apply the rules whenever it’s convenient for you, right? Lol

The Ontario minister of finance resigned a few days ago over getting caught traveling to somewhere in the Caribbean.

This gave me a good laugh, waves in the background while he talks, what an idiot
