Ebike stories sound like people that don't want a challenge or see progress on biking.
Just game genie me to the hardest trail and forget the physical effort or effects of building up to something.
It sounds like you're being critical, but really you are describing the ideal experience.

Do you hate on DH riders that use chair lifts to get to the top of the mountain too?

I think what you are describing. Is called fun.

Weird concept. But you might be surprised to hear it is a lot better than suffering.

If I never have to climb another hill on a bike, that would make for a pretty alright life.

    If there's a reasonable bicycle for $30 I'd call that a win. If there's a parts to convert a bike into an e-bike for $30 that's also a win. If it's a real complete e-bike for $30 then that's incredible.

It’s pretty rad how I can zip up crazy hills now. I commute to work on mine mostly. Every odd morning I’ll do 20km with no power. Bike weighs 54lbs. It’s a workout. But all in all this bike is amazing.

    Enjoy my short sentences.

Did you pay more than $30 for it? If so, you wasted some money.

I've definitely been thinking about picking up a cheaper unit (and by cheaper I mean under $2k) to haul the kids around with. I'd love to bike down in fish creek with them but fuck biking up the hill at the end on a regular bike while pulling a chariot and having a Thule seat on the back.

Haha I’ve had to haul my kid back up into Mayland heights a couple times. Definitely makes it harder

My wife was amazed at the guy riding up the hill on 16th going west near fox hollow/winston barely peddling the other day

What helmets are people using? I ended up getting a cheap ECE/DOT approved MX helmet with full face visor since there's time where I'm on the road doing 50kph, but would love something lighter. Downhill helmets seem to be closest to what I want but they're way more expensive than a motorbike helmet???

If only someone could figure out how to hook a decent HP gas engine to one of these things we might really have an idea!

    I’ll allow it.

We could even build this massive grid of paved pathways for them all across the city where they can travel safely at high speeds with traffic controls, engineered corners, multiple lanes. Could get anywhere in the city in minutes with incredible range and no effort.

I wonder what we could call such a system?

Can we get a summer student to design it like the current system we have?

Are there any e-bikes that are cheap enough that you'd feel comfortable leaving them locked to one of the sidewalk bike racks downtown Calgary? Thinking of a basic commuting option. Ideally something that has an easily removable battery pack that I could carry into my office with me every day to recharge.
