We started potty training our girl a week ago today, so far just two accidents, and neither of them were shits. As per usual with her, things are going much smoother than expected. I can only assume in a couple years when we have to train our boy, he's going to be a terrible amount of work like he is with everything else so far.

Fun thread, but did anyone seriously expect someone on our quasi-anonymous forum to be like "yeah I totes regret my children" haha.

Good luck finding many people who will answer this question honestly if they truly regret having kids haha. I don't think that is something people who may feel that way would readily admit to, and you can't really fault them for it.

All I know for sure is I have tremendous respect for those who have decided to have kids, the amount of work and sacrifice is incredible.

Not every kid is the same amount of sacrifice and work, and not every parent is as skilled at it. Unfortunately it's hard to pair up the hardest kids with the most skilled parents, so the lived experience ends up being wildly divergent. Weird.

For at least 10 or 15 minutes today...

Kids are great, lockdown kids under 5 with 2 FT working parents isn't fun.

    Rest of the time, nope.

I'm 33 with a 6 year old boy, 3 year old daughter, and the last kid due this June. We had initially planned to get married, buy a home, then have kids but shortly after I proprosed my fiance was pregnant, we decided to buy a house, the boy was born and then we got married, the last two kids are planned.

Don't regret having the kids even when my wife took the pregnancy test and found out we were pregnant, I was actually excited despite it being unplanned, of course there have been times where they have been frustrating to deal with.

i know my brother for eg. loves his kids - but hes definitely not a emotionally involved 'parent' in any sense of the word and the kids are suffering as a result - he would have been far better off with no kids

    I don’t know,

It’s like anything in life, you put the effort in, you get results.

Ya know, if protecting my things was my first priority I would probably have had a different parenting style and cleaner floors. Don't think a little feces on the floor is abnormal or a problematic part of parenting.
