Default Gasoline <$1 For How Long?

It's 2020 and gasoline around Calgary is less than a dollar per liter. Way less! I'm seeing about 63 cents today and I think it's about mid 50's in Edmonton. And, it still seems to be dropping!
How long do you think gasoline will stay under a buck?
The combo of some dick swinging between OPEC & Russia along with COVID-19 pandemic has sent the price lower than I've seen in... More than 15 years?

What's your guess for when we see it get above a dollar and why?

Spring 2021. It will take 6 months supply to ramp down from USA production, and then another 6 months to work through to work through the vast amount in storage.

Yea its nuts, the last time I saw 60c was when I was living in Richmond BC in 1999.

Electric vehicle sales no doubt are double impacted a) recession and b) stupid low gas prices

Nobody is buying an electric vehicle because it saves them money. So I don’t buy the “low gas prices will put a dent in electric vehicle sales” shtick.

I think it will be 12 months after the shit show is behind us and I think that's several months away. I'l was thinking maybe 18-24 months until we see 99.9¢/L plus I think it'll need to be summer. Although... If we keep carbon taxing the fuck out of ourselves, it could be much much sooner.
    I'll guess July of 2022.

Absolutely some people are - esp in places like Vancouver.

However the total numbers dont lie - replacing a good used ICE vehicle with a brand new, 100,000$ EV makes little sense in terms of savings - unless you drive ridiculous amounts in the city.

I remember filling my celica for $20 (around $0.65) or so in 2000/2001. Last big crash I felt that was the closest I'd ever get to that feeling again.

I remember being a kid in the mid to late 90s wondering why 72.9 in victoria was so expensive.

I just (today) tossed a Victoria gas receipt from almost exactly two years ago. It was $1.76/L !!
A little unfair as it was Chevron-94, but still.

I miss only paying 10 cents extra for premium. Now it is 20+ cents and they don't seem keen to roll that back with prices way down.

It's still posted 104.9 today (over in View Royal and Esquimalt anyway). The Costco is now below $1 though!

28c difference at Shell, which is utterly ridiculous.

What’s the premium differential at other brands? Are any others as high as 28c?
