I have asked ~ 10 good friends of mine, how much income tax they pay in Hong Kong, (and property tax) they seem dont know the answer .. only 1 told me probably less pay than 10%

There is always pros and cons ...
It's less than 10%, there is also no deduction on your monthly income. You pay it at the beginning of the year, a lot of big companies give you year end bonus often refer to "13th month pay" for your taxes.

It's a different standard of living. I was born there and moved to Canada when I was 11. The opportunities there is truly endless, you can make millions or live on the streets. I try to go back every year as I still have family there, I can definitely get used to living there if not for the lack of living space (unless you are real baller) that we're spoiled with here.

Oh and fuck HK summer, I've been here too long to survive that heat for an extended period of time.

under 10% would mean either very low income, or lots of deductible things (such as old parents and married). I pay like 15%+

Yes, but it's a progressive tax rate that maxes out at 15%. with no capital gains tax, no dividend tax and no inheritance tax. No sales tax and basically a true free health care system.

    Its cap is 17%

    Net chargeable Income Rate Tax
    $ $
    On the First 40,000 2% 800
    On the Next 40,000 7% 2,800
    80,000 3,600
    On the Next 40,000 12% 4,800
    120,000 8,400
    Remainder 17%

The first 320k/annum is under 15%.

Well, look like 300k Canadians in HK can turn into almost 0 overnight.

Dual citizenship may have to choose their side soon, GTFO of HK or forever be subject of CCP.

CCP is best CP. And HK is C. So HKP is CCP. Makes sense to me.

Pre-CCP going apeshit, me and wife wanted to live in HK one day...but not in the big city itself, one of the small islands like Chang Chau...would be amazing to live there during Canadian winters.

I think you mean that. Unless you are just talking about the past. In which case, maybe.

Do dual citizenship. Which makes sense. Incompatible for both countries.

IMO, people should see this coming ever since the protest started and this is the eventual endgame. And they had almost 6 months since the security law is in place. If it's not 2020, it would have been 2047. It's just 27 years early.

Since the crackdown started, Canada has accepted a number of asylum-seekers fleeing arrest, prompting the Chinese ambassador in Ottawa, Cong Peiwu, to warn that receiving “violent criminals” could jeopardize the “health and safety” of the 300,000 Canadian passport holders in the Hong Kong.
Time to pick a side as CCP is about to use them as hostages. Renounce Canadian citizenship or GTFO of HK.

My perfect timing.. 2021 is my 7th year anniversary in Hong Kong. Meaning I can soon apply for Permanent Resident (I am currently only Resident, since I am not born here). I really wanted to get my perm, and now this bullshit regulation. Maybe I will just forget about applying haha

Are you in Hong Kong now? I been here for 3 years now. I would suggest a Beyond meet with some other Calgarians I know but with the restrictions is kinda tough. I do have a private cigar lounge to go to for social get togethers if your interested.
