8qt Instant Pot for $69.88. Excellent for cooking ribs.
Jesus, shouldn't there be thousands of those on Kijiji for the price of ice cream makers? We got molested by that gift about 2 years ago and it's been used at least thrice.

Those don't come in 8qt. I need the big one to cook my wagyu.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

Are those air fryers a useful tool? Seems awesome in adverts, but then again so did the slap-chop, lol.

Basically just a convection oven really but yes I find it useful. Cooks food faster than my regular oven. And fried foods aka fries and the like, taste way better and crispier cooked in it vs the oven method which although crispy, dries out. As well as I can cook a batch of fries in the air fryer in 10-12 minutes whereas the oven I'd need 15-20 and the healthy aspect. Now I have no use for my actual T-Fal Deep Fryer I bought before the Air Fryer.

And you can make a mean ass pork belly (lechon) in it

I think I am going to return the Instant Pot once I receive it. It's too basic for an aspiring Aspenite like myself.

I have had my air fryer since 2014... one of the most used appliances! great for reheating almost everything.

Wife got a package on Black Friday that has the regular Instant Pot pressure cooker along with the air fryer parts. I assume people can just buy the air fryer attachments separately if they already have an Instant Pot vs buying yet another appliance.

The lack of red knobs was the first clue to that.

    Air Fryer <<<<< Deep Fryer

(Well, it's actually not even remotely the same thing, except someone decided to call the mini convection oven a fryer for some reason... maybe I need to switch to one of the peeve threads)

Agreed. That said, we have two haha. One of the actifry type that works well for things like fries, hashbrowns, and tatertots. And the pampered chief one that is good for basically anything else.

The air fryer crowd just needs better ovens. I recommend wolf.

    LoL - I didn't start this thread!

I loathe excess kitchen appliances. I subscribe to Chef Michael Smith's mantra of:
"Go to that kitchen drawer you all have that is so full of gimmicky crap that you have to shift stuff around to get it to close. Dump it entirely in the garbage. Go buy a planer, a cast iron frying pan & a quality chef's knife and start cooking proper food, easily."

I suppose a planer may work for shaving beef but it sure doesn't fit in a drawer.

A block planer will. Good for shaving cheese.

I think as a general statement this is excellent advice. There are a few tools I like, but most of them are garbage.

Can’t say I own a planer, my wife bought this weird colourful mandolin thing?
