Default Looking for recommendations on a new family doctor

Hey Beyond, looking for some personal recommendations for a new family doctor. We've been seeing the same lady for 25 years but due to a handful of different reasons we're searching for our next 25 year relationship. Must haves:

    - Female.
    - Under the age of 50 (don't want to bother staring with someone who's just going to retire in five years).
    - South of downtown.
    - Clear, fluent English.
    - Competent office staff that run a decent clinic. This one is important as one of the leading reasons we're leaving our current physician. It's not the only reason, but a big one.

    TIA

No suggestions for South side, but 100% agree that competent office staff is critical. We switched our family out away from a good doc because of bad staff.

I was recommended to this clinic too. I called a few weeks ago and they weren't taking new patients at the time.

I think part of the recruiting criteria to work as a medical receptionist is to measure your level of incompetence and bitchy attitude.

Dr. Kareemi meets your criteria (Zamin Medical on Bannister Road). They are accepting new patients. She might be around 50 years old though, just in case that is a huge issue for you. Her husband is the head of Gastro at Rockyview as well. I've been very happy with her and I know several other people who go to her, but my experience has just been routine Physicals for the most part.

There are lots of good doctors though, best to go for interviews if you have the time for it and pick for yourself.

They could smell the poor from your caller ID.

Beside how ritzy could it be, that’s like a 5 minute drive from Aspen, basically halfway across the city.

    Bump.
My under 40yr old doc is closing his practice.

Looking for a doc who's going to be around for more than 5 years. Fluent in English. Don't care, male or female.
Prefer NW or close to downtown. Any recommendations?

Frustrated because I've been through 5 different family docs in the last 15 yrs.

Good luck. My current family doctor has a minimum 3 week wait, so you are either cured or dead from your ailment by then.

I can't pronounce the names of the doctors looking for patients and their language spoken I've never heard of before.
I might as well look on fiverr.

Not having a family doctor, or one you can trust sucks. I've been there. Lots quit or move long before retirement age. Also helps to have one where the office staff have their shit together. I quit a doctor I liked once because the front desk staff were awful.
Now at a huge clinic that is part of the UofC faculty of Medicine.

Nowhere near your ideal location, but after my wife's family doctor retired last year, she started seeing Dr.Odiagah at Acadia Medical Clinic, and can't say enough good about her. Im now the only person in our extended family who doesn't use her as a family doctor.

Don't discount foreign doctors. They haven't had a lifetime of our shitty medical system to wear them down yet, and actually still care about patients

Like all things in life some are good and some are bad.

Their quackery is next level awesome though, especially if they're from Africa.

Almost had to look for a new fam doc too. Ours retired last year so i assumed the other doc would just take over(saw him a couple times prior already), had a physical booked and 2 days before the appointment they call and say i couldnt come because my doc retired and the other wasnt taking anymore clients. I explained to them that he took on my wife and kids so why not me and luckily they did.

and I did not have the only say in the matter (most people just want it done ASAP and don't care about quality).

If anything we made a better decision because we had a consensus and were all on the same page.

Bump. Guess I have to expand that I'll drive across the city now for a good doc.
Did a few interviews and not for me.
