AGM, maybe not. But if you are discharging it below 30% depth of charge, then yes, you are. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Also, i hope you aren't using that battery.
I am. I had it on the charger all last winter, and have used it 4 times this year. Planning on one more trip in Sept. Then I'm converting to 6v's and will chuck it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Can someone maybe explain something to me. First time heading going camping in a provincial park and I am reading this https://www.albertaparks.ca/albertap...rvation-rules/
It says check in time is 4pm but talks about how late arrivals after 2pm needs to be notified.
Is check in 4? or is it 2?
It's 2pm the next day. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
This is about the stupidest thing i have read on beyond since toma. Jesus christ man that is a significant hazard to you and your family. 6v GC's are $99 at costco right now. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
So the case has road rash, but is still 100% intact, and the battery is fully functional, but it's a hazard? It isn't like I just picked it up and slapped it in the trailer without fully testing it first, but to each their own. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

What’s that stuff on the bottom?
melted plastic? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
It's not melted, it's road rash. No overheating happened.

Don't forget its a AGM battery which is far less prone to issues like a sealed or vented type battery with liquid.
Plastic doesn't need to get that hot in order to meltThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
The friction generated from dragging it down the road a little bit would be enough to melt it and look the way it does at the bottom when it cooled...
FWIW, I'd still use it if it was functional and no signs of leaking/swelling...but then I'm also as tight as two coats of paint
Get a load of ^this!! The Scottish guy is cheap!? I don't not know what to not unbelieve!
Tighter than a frog's ass.
anyone want a long weekend site at Castle Falls.. (quiet A-loop) wife's away working till friday, shes gonna not be super stoked on driving down late friday.. priced as what i paid
Sorry, I meant no internal overheating. As in it didn't melt from the inside out. I'm perfectly happy using it, I'm not exactly a noob at battery maintenance, I'd say in my career I've been far more involved with them than 99.99% of Beyonders, but we do love to judge things outside their own personal scopes, lol, so I take spike98's judgement with a grain of salt. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. This isn't outside my personal scope. I inspect electrical infrastructure components for a living. But what do I know. You do you buddy. Just know that you are taking a personal risk by operating this battery and not discarding it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

That's good info. I'd also be tempted to reuse this. I see the risk as battery failure but not explosion or fire. Do you see a risk of that? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Only chance of thermal runaway is when it's being charged. Which it isn't when I'm camping. It also sat on the charger for over 6 months prior. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
