I have a buddy who bought a seasonal site at Sundre. Seems like an okay option.

Anyone been to Forks or Three Isle Lake?

They're listed on the Alberta Parks reservation site but you can't reserve anything...?

Yes have done both.. i think they're closed for booking out of 90 days as they're closed till mid/late June. Forks looks like it opens June 15 and Three Isle on June 24.

personally, unless you're going to do forks on a friday night after work to get extra time at Three Isle or Turbine, i'd give it a pass. It's a bit of a party zone as it's easy enough to get into with hauling beer, lots of people cutting down trees to burn.. We camped there twice last year just as a single nighter... If i had a full day, i'd definitely just push to Three Isle or Turbine.

Was chatting with a guy at work who just leased a trailer lot at a lake for low - mid 4 figures. That seems like winning wrt “camping” in 2021. Within 90 minutes of YYC.

12 mo lease too enabling a deep season.
Good way to do it, except the lakes within 90 are all kinda gross...

He pointed out a nice Bonus in that because it’s a year round lot he can drop his RV storage which saves him a bundle.

If you have the initial money, Wilderness Village is the way to go. Guaranteed spot every weekend, RV storage, two swimming pools, 3 hot tubs, BMX track, petting zoo, baseball diamond, etc etc.

Just more money than I want to spend. You can buy someone else's lifetime membership for about $20g, but you can't re-sell it. Plus annual fees around $1500 a year. If you have a trailer that can handle winter, it would be worth it I think.

Ideally was going to go into three isle, there's a mountain hike i want to do there

i assume its tents only in there, looks a bit too small to go with a camper

Just booked Cottonwood for June 18th. I've given up on trying to get any prime campgrounds, people are cheating the system for them as expected.

Yeah it's a shitshow getting reservations these days. But cottonwood is a good spot. Apparently good fishing there too.

Anyone been to the campgrounds north of Louise in Banff park? Like Waterfowl lakes, Silverhorn Creek etc? Big sites for trailers?

Curious if anyone's been to Lundbreck Falls and what there is to do there? Booked it for 3 full days but I'm thinking it might be too long.

I've camped nearby at Castleview. Not a whole lot to do there. We did play around at the Boulder Run day use area and hung out in the water with some Floaties. After that we ran into Pincher Creek Walmart to get some bbq supplies and an Iced Cap from Tim Hortons.
Other than seeing Lundbrek Falls or going west to check out Frank Slide, I don't think there's much to do. One cool thing that did happen though was a really awesome lightning storm rolled through during the night which made for a pretty amazing lightning show.
If there's more to do around there I'd love to know. Otherwise, I'd recommend going further west.

Booked Sibbald June 25 for two nights, speaking of places with nothing to do.

Am I on meth? I thought bookings were staggered throughout the different regions during different times of the day as listed here: https://www.albertaparks.ca/albertap...ervations-map/

Have been keeping an eye out for booking a week during Canada day week, sites I had jotted down as becoming available today showed as booked as of half an hour ago that weren't booked even earlier this morning. I get that existing reservations can adjust the dates further, but these new bookings carried deep into July so they have to be new.

So I refreshed a few times over 10 minutes and 1 site was available to book in Lower Lake, which is where I was trying to book, so I booked it although Kananaskis is listed as 11am for when bookings open up.

Is it actually 9AM for all regions to open for bookings?

I think only staggered on Day 1. 9am for the rest of the year.

argh you're right, I wasn't reading all the bullet points on that link, just clicking the region and read the time. well that's a piss off but at least I got a reservation I guess.

My buddy who lives outside of Red Deer goes there a few times each summer, says it's pretty busy, no real hikes or anything of that sort to do but good for floating on the river
