Here is what I would suggest for a 'mid range', setup for router + 2 APs (similar to what I deploy to clients homes and small businesses).

    Edge Router 12
    https://www.amazon.ca/Ubiquiti-Netwo...tronics&sr=1-1

Unifi AP - LR PRO edition (x2)
    https://www.amazon.ca/Ubiquiti-Netwo...0949364&sr=8-4
The router looks like a poe but not enough ports for the entire house. That's why I quoted a 24/26 port poe switch.

Anyone with thoughts at the TP Link AX1500 / AX1800 which is wifi 6 compatible.

or thoughts on AP vs. like Orbi Mesh?

cat6 everywhere, basically anything can be run over cat6, speakers, HDMI, phone... basically any low power applications.

As for the POE thing i think it's better to have 2 separate switches, one POE for cameras/waps etc, and one non powered, no point in paying a premium for POE on devices that cant make use of it.

It's not the size that matters, it's the taste it leaves in your mouth.

Anything mesh will disappoint you, make sure whatever you use has wired backhauls.

HDMI over Cat6 is not really possible with 2021 signal standards (or 2016 signal standards for that matter).

The base unifi switches are about half POE nowadays. Good compromise.

Switches you can pick and choose from. I did not specify one for you. Gigabit or greater, POE as needed.

The router and AP hardware are THE MOST important piece of the wired/wireless setup. Right now, Unifi is where its at for home setups in 2021.

Do not mesh if you have wired APs as options.

    Thanks.

Can someone tell me what that Unifi router that relevations suggested with PoE Passthrough and SFP Ports means and the difference between a poe passthrough vs poe switch.

Conduit from the basement to the attic in case you want to run more cables of any kind.
    ^^This guy Reno's!
Also a string or two or wire to attach to and pull.

Conduit in media room too in walls and ceiling.

I ran way too much wire in my massive reno and probably use 2% of it.

Wire is cheap. Retrofits and fishing is not.
