Just be careful of speed. I rented a lime and let my date take my personal scooter. She got a ticket for 60 in a 20 zone!

Officer just jumped out of a bush and spooked her, so she went off roading. Was funny to watch.

All jokes aside, if you’re mindful with personal scoots, I’ve had zero issues past summer. (My scooter is the FluidFreeRide Mantis, dual motor (front and rear), top speed 75 KPH

Are we going to be allowed privately owned scooters if this is the case?
You've always been able to own one and nothing ever said you can't.

The biggest issue is the bylaws which are so heavily geared to ride sharing scooters compared to personal.

But lots of people ride their private ones around with issue or hassle as long as your being an idiot.

Lithium isn't precious or rare at all. They don't even use a gram of it in an 18650 battery.

Its mined like salt, they simply find an area of increased concentration in granular form (sandy like), and dry it out. What makes an automotive battery valuable is the cobalt and nickel.

BTW: The combustion scooter (Vespa) at around 10HP might also not be long for this world. Efficiency of combustion engine decreases dramatically as you shrink down the engine HP. Electric has proven itself at 1/2 horsepower and up.
