They did an AMAZING job consodering global oil proces were at 20year lows or whatever.
I'll take this rare opportunity to agree with you. Somewhat.

I wouldn't say they did an "amazing" job, but they certainly did ok considering our main source of income was virtually non-existent.

Might have been a little better if they didn't, you know, pass legislation to kick the industry while it was already down?

Investment left Alberta at a furious rate the second the NDP won, and for good reason.

i love how people act like the NDP was some catastrophic bombshell, but somehow the province "recovered" very quickly with UCP back in..... likely because there was nothing to recover from

It's apparent that you don't get your cash in the oil industry.

We recovered so quickly because the UCP redacted the policies put in place by the NDP and investment returned!
Its a very difficult concept to understand, I can see how you can't grasp that.

What investment? Last I checked UCP cut taxes and Husky still laid off a ton of people. In fact the unemployment rate rose from 6.7% the day the UCP took over to 7.2% before the pandemic happened.

The NDP never really have a chance. The one time they did form govt it was on the back of a split party and a nast protest vote.

It was AMAZING. They didint defund schools, health, and managed to reverse job losses and post a gain.

UCP would have sold the capital building's and leased them back, sold off hopitals and schools, laid off punlic workers, and still posted bigger deficit than NDP. Cause thats how UCP rolls.

Plus Notley was a far bigger and more effective O&G advocate than anyone in recent history.

You guys are reading too far into this. NDP inherited a shitshow during a shitty time. There's no way we can estimate how they could have done if they swapped terms with UCP.

Both of these parties are full of idiots. Why can't anyone fix our piece of shit healthcare system is my question. I'd vote liberal if someone could form a logical plan and actually make progress.

Every province has a shitty healthcare system.

Doctors are leaving Victoria because they can't afford to live there.
Interior BC has a massive doctor shortage.
Ont and NS are looking at adding private services.

BC hralthcare is better than ours and 30% cheaper per capita.

Cause conservatives HAVENT been in charge there for 50 + years almost continuously. Theres isnt perfect, but thats cause liberals are conservatives light.

Health and education were already better under the NDP even during a global oil price meltdown.
