I thought this was a joke when I first read it, and I am in absolute disbelief anyone in their right mind thinks this is a good idea. This is a fantastic way to destroy lives, and create another generation of fentanyl addicts.

They don't have a minimum age for a drug treatment program... Because to be in the program your have to be dependent on drugs and getting non lethal supply - seems preferable to them dieing waiting for a treatment option.

I have lost too many people to drugs, but you know what? They all made their choices to get where they got. Makes me sad, but just a giant "FUCK THIS SHIT" to this being any kind of right answer...

The war on drugs failed, and it seems like the "harm reduction" also fails.

I woukd be in favour of evidence based public health advice without the moralizing and pearl clutching. Seems that's not preferred by any political parties. I have no advice.

I’d go as far as allowing free drugs in jail, but the catch is you don’t get to leave unless you are clean.

The real epidemics are laziness, depression, boredom and the broken promises of fulfillment. That's what's driving people to drink, smoke, gamble, own several cats, drink, use cannabis, drink, pills, drink, snort blow, own exotic pets, drink, shoot up, buy throw pillows, scroll social media, drink, attend rallies, etc.
It's a whole lot less fun and a whole lot more work to try and find your void so you can then attempt to fill it with something other than poison, but being hung over or strung out all the time also sucks. I don't know how people manage to get so far into it that the habit becomes the addiction becomes the all-consuming but it sure is obviously happening a lot.
And once it does, the horrible truth is that over 95% of those people need to just be written off. They are so costly and the recovery rates are so low that society can't responsibly afford to keep trying to rehab them. That's cold, but nature is also cold.
