No that is a “training course” for new grads called Shell Life. Yes that’s the actual name lol. Apparently I wasn’t cool enough to get flown to NL. But I did get a free week at the rim rock in Banff and connected with other grads, so it was a decent way to spend a week. I even got to expense the mileage to drive back and forth at a pretty generous per km rate

No idea if they are still doing that. Not even sure if new grads have been hired in the last few years at all even.

My wife used to work for Shell and got flown down to Houston for it (she was in safety engineering). Apparently it is a lot of sensitivity training, how to tell someone they suck.

The funny part is around the same time she got hired I was also getting interviewed. I didn't end up getting hired because I failed their behavioral test I think I said something along the lines of "my teammates were incompetent so I did their work for them."

NCX had similar training. I got in trouble because we were doing a group scavenger hunt and I figured out where the final prize was. Some lady got annoyed that I didn't consult with the group first. I told her to think faster.

Production, drilling, and completions jobs are slowly starting to pop up. I haven't seen one of those in a long long time. Its a good sign, but I bet any of those jobs will have 400+ applicants.

I just offered my mech eng tech his job back after a long year off. We're so busy right now i'm amazed anything gets done.
