may I ask what perks? and what park tickets lol...
Merch, resort, and cruise discounts plus passes to the Disney Parks are the big ones. It's quite good for a minimum wage job.

We do need that caliber of talent to run AHS. Debatable that they're actually doing a good job.
Sorry, I didn't word that very well. What I meant to say is that people get all in a bunch when an AHS top level executive pay is that of a VP's at mid-size E&P, but they have responsibility for the the largest employer in the province, who are responsible for a $23B budget, and are providing an essential service.

High pay for very poorly thought out spending strategies and whining to the government for more money when it runs out?

    Sounds easy to me.

LOL, no. Essentially pay appropriately to get the right people in the positions. Also put in some incentive based compensation based on outcomes.

Public sector jobs shouldn't have anywhere equivalent salaries as the private sector.

The point is that they would need to in order to attract talent capable of managing organizations/budgets of that size. But people like you would never let that happen, so here we are.

edit: the irony is shelling out for some capable leadership, and giving them the power to optimize the organization (i.e. lay off all the lazy fucks and bloated mid management) would likely result in net savings for taxpayers.

Public sector salaries are a chicken and egg problem.

How many public sector employees have been laid off in the last year? There should be tangible cost for the extreme job security. This is basically right across the board, probably not on the entry level or top executive level

You can pay for the highest qualified person on the planet, but they still can't optimize or reorganize anything effectively because union.

So might as well pay a dog $1 to run AHS?

Starting to see more and more jobs popping up, especially in the tech world. Not nearly enough to offset the major job losses but its a small sliver of hope for the Calgary job market.

Now let a 40+ year old O&G middle manager know how he can translate into that role, then we're golden.
