"trendier than Mckenzie Lake" is not a high bar.
I live in Mckenzie lake and I am not offended by this.

So OG Aspen is full of new money, and West of 85th are just wannabes playing Keeping Up with the Jones'?

How gauche. Basically a trendier McKenzie Lake with LRT access.
Seriously, though...is Aspen even trendy? It's a super generic suburb, as ES said. It's like they built an entire community based on realtor.ca "refine search" feature checkboxes.

But Aspen does not have a lake ... a couple of large sloughs ... no one in their right mind would go in or even let their dog swim in there.

Wait. Is there more to real estate than that?

Trendy for parents that want to send their kids to private schools but in general no...

I’m having a kraken and coke to stave off boredom, I assume in aspen they refuse to sell anything less than a 12 year aged scotch at their liquor stores

You guys have clearly never been to Aspen. East of 85th and west of 85th are two different worlds.

Now west of 85th where 89Coupe lives is essentially Forest Lawn, and rumor has it was developed by Webber parents that live in OG Aspen as a way to keep their kids humble when dropping them off at school.
You mean east of 77th from 77th to 95th there is no difference

And the forest lawn comment is a bit of a low blow ...

If Webber parents want to humble their kids they should stop picking fights in the parking lot so, the teachers can stop phoning the cops ...

Driving your kids to school is so lowbrow, don’t you have staff to do that for you?

I mean, it’s just trendier than McKenzie Lake. That doesn’t make it trendy.

That said, it has a Redwater and some chain pubs, so not many areas can compete.

Ya, but what community would you rank just ahead of, and just behind Aspen in terms of trendiness?

Well commute is a few seconds shorter than Airdrie so that has to count for something

Patterson would be just ahead, because it has Schooners which adds a certain grit and character none of the other ‘west of Sarcee’ neighborhoods have.

Just behind would be one of those NW neighborhoods. Don’t know what they’re called, but the Aspens of the NW basically. I’m sure there’s a half dozen of them but they don’t hype themselves up the same way, which I can respect, but I can’t help them with that ‘NW’ blotch in their address line.

Ya, if you are looking for patina, then west of sarcee ain't got it. Unless you count 90's pastel.

Isn't Calgary is just various highways connecting suburban sprawl with a heavy helping of big box shopping centres. Ain't nothing high brow 'bout it.

That’s what the nice parts of Calgary want you to think.
