Depends. Is their cost of capital less than the leasing company’s? If not then it’s just smart capital structure.

My guess is Mclarens cost of capital is ridiculously high, so selling the building and leasing it back is way cheaper than trying to raise money another way.

I think its a terrible format. Basically run a quali to run a quali to run a race in a weird format. I'm surprised the teams agreed to it, I thought it would have been nixed at the vote stage because of the $$$ and wear and tear

I think this is to spice up the back to back races at the same track. But I agree, terrible idea and it's going to cost teams more money as there's going to be crashes on Saturday and risk Sunday's race.

And watch those extra quali points is what determine the drivers championship and whoever in runner-up is gonna be pissed.
