That'd be something else if AM beats their appeal and gets Seb's 2nd place back, but then they DQ him for wearing a T-shirt at the pre race. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Nice write up on the Vettel situation. FIA's own data from fuel flow tells them there is 1.74L of fuel left in the car, so it'd be rather prickish for them to not allow AM to try and recover that fuel if it's due to a mechanical issue. The main importance is that fuel IS in the car, and that the FIA can test it for accuracy.

So they DQ Vettel over a fuel technicality and perhaps a T-shirt....
....but #GOAT gets to ram his rivals off the road and gets a 10 second penalty?
lol, never change F1.
^ Lol...was just waiting for that.

On a related note: when did Vettel hire his new PR team? Dumb t-shirts, picking up garbage, rainbow helmets. Who does he think he is fooling? lol

Vettel is a nerd.

They have now withdrawn their appeal though

That sucks. Maybe they exhausted all options internally and know they can't beat the rules...This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I'd say after their hearing that they realized what they were up against and that their appeal would go nowhere. The reasons for why they could not extract the fuel are irrelevant, the fuel needed to be extracted, period. Their entire case rests upon the reasons they couldn't extract the fuel, therefore they have no case. No sense tying up legal resources for this any longer. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Seems so weird to me that manufacturers/teams can dictate how other teams manage their drivers.
The Mercedes-Williams situation with Russell is similar as well.

It's because they're contracted to Mercedes and Ferrari. Russell's contract is with Mercedes until end of 2021, and on loan to Williams at the moment through a Mercedes/Williams contract. Mick comes from the Ferrari jr program, and is in a 3 way contract between him, Ferrari and Haas. Both cases probably with a discount to engine costs. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
