I think they are just trying to minimize the damage so he still has a bit of a chance to get a decent result. Will be interesting to see how it works. Rain was projected at one point, but I don't think that's the case anymore?

It says 40% chance of rain.
With only 10 place Grid Penalty Lewis should get a decent result. In FP1 and FP2 RBR was off the pace.
Long runs looked pretty good for Merc. Fingers crossed.

I think there is slight chance of rain at the start and after that it is a dry race.
If it is a dry race Lewis will cut through the field pretty easily. Merc looks very strong on dry conditions. Stating from 11th with a car that is out of place always poses a challenge. I hope Lewis gets a decent start.

You are correct they don't like following a car. However Lewis was 0.3 sec faster than Max during Qualifying and in FP1 and FP2 he was 0.4Sec faster. Provided we don't know what the fuel loads of the cars at the time.
With that kind of an advantage I don't think Lewis will follow the cars for too long.
