Here's a picture from yesterday at Crappy Tire.
    Attachment 97198

I thought it was a govt program, so how could it be different?

*Also, I've maybe never seen a Costco with Optima batteries, so I don't know why they list those on that warranty page. I was also looking at that, yesterday.
Maybe some stores used to sell them a long time ago?
I am sure it is a govt program that the retailer has to pay a specific amount to the govt, i would imagine canadian tire is just making a few extra bucks off people who cant be bothered to do the core, or maybe costco is taking a bit of a hit to discourage people from returning them because they don't want to deal with it.

(EDIT: i cant find anything that says it's a govt deal, i think it's just an excuse for retailers to take on an extra fee and they charge whatever they want because then they get to scrap em for around the same amount, my brother works for a towing company and i think he said he gets $15 scrap price for most automotive batteries)

i would imagine any core refund, especially canadian tire, would require a corresponding purchase.

I returned a core to Costco from a motomaster that died on me a couple years ago to answer that question.

I did buy a new battery from them though.

Yea. Brought in the shitty motomaster core with me, walked out with new kirkland

I think I paid for the core up front at the till, then walked over to auto department to get my core refund.

Is there a time limit to bring in the old battery? I have one from about a year ago now that I've been lazy to bring back for the refund.

If there's a bunch of corrosion on the old battery they get mad if you try to wheel it in the store lol.

Just bought a Group 35 on Thursday at the Crossiron one, but with the current cold snap who knows if they still have them in stock.

Tips on best time to hit the returns line? So backed up everyone I go.
    Have a 2yr old battery. Doesn't accept a charge.
Possibly did a Mar to it with the alarm draining it and I don't have enough trickle chargers to go around.

I went on a Sunday when they opened once for a return and there was no one. Your results may vary
