    Default Dual monitor help....fml.

I figured ive done this a long time ago, I should be able to figure it out, but i can't.

Trying to do dual monitors. One monitor is VGA/DVI only, while the other has VGA or HDMI.

My tower only has one VGI and one DVI and 0 HDMI outputs. I have a display port adapter plugged into dvi on the PC to the hdmi on the monitor.

Getting no display, what am I doing wrong? What else do I need?

sounds like you are using a PC from the 90s to start with.

Cheap answer: a DVI to VGA adapter. So you go VGA on both monitor.

Relative cheap answer: a new cheap graphic card that has DVI and HDMI ports

that's 3 standards mixing. Not sure that's a good idea to troubleshoot.

dvi to hdmi cables are one way only and are actually hdmi to dvi.

your pc has vga and dvi
    mon1 takes vga and dvi
mon 2 takes vga and hdmi

use vga from pc to mon2
use dvi from pc to mon1

correct, if you have the necessary cables then all you need is vga to vga to monitor 2 and dvi to dvi on monitor 1
unless i misread what ports you have available on your PC, VGA and DVI? No displayport

Assuming you are using windows, just open display properties and set which monitor is #1 and #2. Its drag and drop. Choose to extend your monitors??
