At least you had the presence of mind not to drive around with a clunking sound.
I had issues getting a rusted wheel off once and I intentionally backed off the lugs (to hand loose, but still seated) and went for a short drive around the neighbourhood to break the wheel from the hub. Once it broke off, the noise was obvious.
Yet, I've seen a few people lose their wheel on the road like this.

haha, believe it or not but it was the wifes Yaris. Winter steels did not want off - anti seize was then used. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
My Mazda does it every fucking year, even with anti-seize. I've quit wailing on its tires with a mini sledge and started loosening nuts and setting car back down, repeatedly. Never had to go for a drive, but it's amazing the rust bond strength. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Getting rotors off was even more hilarious.
try different anti seize? had no more issues after started using it (more) liberally on the contact surfaces on my wifes 3 series mazda as well (never got to the point of the yaris). This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I think I'm using it too sparingly because I don't want it flinging all over the place since I'm spending so much time doing 240. In a Mazda. In winter...
Anti-seize on the mating surfaces changed my life. I have a big tub of it, and glob that stuff on every vehicle every time I have the wheels off. I've even been known to put it a little on the threads of the lugs, but don't tell anyone, because that'll mess up my torque values.

I like putting a tiny bit of anti-seize on the threads knowing that when I tighten them that the excess is moving into the untouched spaces. So satisfying.
Huhuhhhhhhgg..
I see I'm not the only person who torques his lug nuts in the nude.

Yreah I was thinking about the same, if centering ring is missing or broken you will never be able to torque it.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
