Can you claim that stuff if you just stole it from work?
what if I purchased all those items with my personal credit card and then I expensed them? I can dig up about $800 in office supplies just by logging into my Grand & Toy account lol

So you guys claiming the full $400? Or actually calculating days?

With vacation and such my wife didn't reach the 200 day max, even when working from home every day since march 16th.

I'd say you can claim whatever you want and coukd justify if you were audited. I personally try to have backup that woukd pass an audit for things like this.

For my wife, we are doing the "full" method because it's slightly more than $400. For me, it's the $2/day, which will be slightly less than $400.

You realize you are talking to the guy who made his own furniture out of salad bowls right?

Haven’t you basically been at work the whole time ES?

I feel like I was in the office less than you last year and it’s nowhere near 400

Id draw out something reasonable in a calendar save it in your tax file and call it a day. Obviously making sure there is nothing that refutes your number in any way.

Doing my taxes right now. Detailed method is absolutely worthwhile for my wife. changes the refund amount by several hundred dollars. Checking my info and building the audit package, because yeah, you'd hate to get caught out on this.
