Being attacked and persecuted for being Jewish is different than being hated for something you have complete control over and consciously decide to do. Nobody is classified as an 'anti-masker' or 'election fraudster' or 'Holocaust appropriator' by birth so they can be rounded up, branded, enslaved, and exterminated. There's also a difference between the state sanctioning the persecution of people based on political beliefs, and corporations weighing the value of employing somebody with potential loss of value to the brand. Thinking they're in any way similar is thinking 'there shouldn't be consequences for my actions.'

To contextualize it further, it comes a month after Jon Favreau used his clout to keep her on the Mandalorian after her anti-mask and election fraud comments caused ire, and now in the fallout after that she's likened her "plight" (being attacked on social media but remaining employed on a major studio production), to that of the Jews being beaten in the street in Nazi Germany. The Mouse is very self-conscious of its social status nowadays, so they aren't going to put up with dumb social media comments twice in two months.

Presumably you would also conclude that Islamophobia is not a thing because people choose to be Muslim.

Cancel culture does not require any analysis of the issue whatsoever. All it requires is the realization from Disney (or whoever), that the mob will do damage. It is the very definition of mob justice. She could have easily started claiming that stacked charts and overlay charts are the same thing.

This isn't moral righteousness by Disney, it's cynicism.

I agree. Even though I don't think she should be fired, it's totally their right. I've been to a Disney seminar about their business and their organizational culture. They have a list of "non negotiables" that are well defined and explicit. Wander off their path, and you will not find your way back on.

Not for this tweet. But she's been basically contesting that election is stolen/mask doesn't work/COVID is lie line for months now and she had been feeling the heat hence the comparison to herself to Jews.

I guess that was final straw for Disney.

I don't think what she said in the last tweet was wrong. But Disney has held back the mob for over 6 months now and had enough.

While not specific to this case, there are already people getting cancelled for just using words with no intent to offend. Sure you should be careful in what you do in general but is it acceptable to live in fear of having your lives destroyed for words regardless of context? Are we supposed to keep our mouth shut all the time now? It's a strange world that we live in where physical violence seems to be more forgivable.
