    Default CPS kicks his Dog

What are your guys thought on this? The statement issued in my opinion makes them look worse trying to justify it but I'd think you don't need to kick a dog to be quiet , especially a trained K9

    Wait, what are you watching?

Superintendent didn't justify it at all; he said repeatedly they do not condone this, and how they should have done it instead.
They acknowledge it was a shitty way to get the dog to be quiet.

    Lol...

Do you know how switched on these working dogs are?
That dog barely felt it, this is the trainer "snapping" the dog out of his fixation and re-directing its attention.

Spend ANY time with a working dog, and you will understand this.

Complete non issue... Fuck this society man.

I’m willing to give the handler benefit of the doubt on this one I agree. There are lots of elements of working dog training and handling that the public just doesn’t have the stomach for.

Just be happy that they show up when you call.

sled dogs in Alaska/Yukon still get whipped on a daily basis in the winter - maybe send the karens up there too?

horses also get slapped in the rear by the jockeys.

This is a working dog that requires strict obedience. Could the kick have been less forceful? sure. Did it injure the animal? no

We call that "indirect pressure". Bird dogs with an e-collar, its usually something like "Sit!" *nic* "Sit!" and it immediately reminds them that this isn't a play session, they have a job to do.

I'm all for the positive reinforcement/LIMA methods but people are so goddamn soft they can't stomach that pressure actually has a place for working dogs in high drive situations. I fucking hate it, we're not talking about your little yorkie here.

r/dogtraining will delete so much as a mention of a choke chain, yet my lab will charge face first into a briar bush, tail waving like a propeller, and still look at me like I'm the asshole when I try to call him back out.

    Name checks out.

    But this is exactly it.

I had a high prey drive pitbull-X and had to physically re-direct him in this same way, he was an absolute beef cake.
Amazing dog, until he saw a rabbit

100% agreed. My dog can be a real shit on walks because of her prey drive and I will give her a bump with my knee and it snaps her out right quick and she will sometimes even squeel cause she was startled not hurt.

instagram was going mental over this yesterday. I'm in the not a big deal camp. It's a working dog it barely felt that lol.

People were trying to find out who it was to "dox" them, "fire him" etc. I'm a big softy dog lover, but come on....... I feel bad the cops even have to reply to this.
