Default Bluetooth Headphones, 3 pairs paired with one device

On road trips we use a makeshift video player for kids, a Samsung tablet on arm, mounted to headrest. Works great, except the audio. Looking to pair 3 sets of bluetooth headphones to the tablet.

    Anyone done this before?

Can multiple headphones be paired to same device? Is a bluetooth splitter required?

traditionally you can only stream to one device at a time.

google leads to this app for both IOS and Android if you want to give it a try

    What is AmpMe ?
AmpMe is the #1 portable sound system that connects you to friends, family, strangers (and even aliens)! We allow users to amplify the sound of their music by connecting several devices (both iOS and Android) to play the same music at the same time. Essentially, we allow phones to become a portable speaker system - like sonos! AmpMe also allows users to customize their profiles, follow other users, host and join virtual parties, join Global Parties, chat in the parties, react to the music and (best of all!) make new friends in the app.

Think this is a different use case.

Looking for one device to pair (stream) to 3 headphones at once.

Yea it wont be from the tablet alone - you will need a 3rd party solution as of 2021.

Something like this (except you should be able to use your own headsets)

More along the lines of something like this:

Neither of those look intended for portable use......

Surprised this is such an odd ball thing, guess old school headphone jack splitter might be only cost effective solution.

worst case scenario, with a BT rx/tx and splitters you can have 1 kid wired and 2 kid wireless.

that is an option. Will device send to bluetooth and headphone jack at same time?

A lot of effort to avoid listening to peppa pig over the car speakers.

Not that it’s helpful but I think you can do 2 sets of AirPods or beats with an iPhone/iPad.

As far as I know you'd need a splitter. Bluetooth 5.0 does support multipoint and can do it ... but it'd doubtful your ipad and all your headphones support it in the near future.

Most phones do two devices now ... 3 is hard though.

I think it would be easier to put a noise cancelling device on yourself...

Go old school car entertainment. Infrared audio. Quality sucks, but who gaf, it's kids tv. You can have 20 headsets listening, so long as there's direct line of site.

    https://www.amazon.com/Transmitter-W.../dp/B07CVVCFHQ

Plus three sets of IR headphones.

Most of the Bluetooth splitters seem to only support two headphones max. But then you could put a normal splitter in between to give you one extra wired

    So basically:
Output of iPad to input of basic splitter
Output 1 of basic splitter to wired headphone 1
Output 2 of basic splitter into input of BT splitter
Output 1 and output 2 of BT splitter connected to two BT headphones

    Here’s one for $35
Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter/Receiver, TaoTronics 2-in-1 Wireless 3.5mm Audio Adapter (aptX Low Latency, 2 Devices Simultaneously, for TV/Home Sound System) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B013ULOP10/...89D1W3AHGJHAXD

    And then a basic splitter:
UGREEN Headphone Splitter 3.5mm Audio Y Splitter Stereo Headset Adapter Cable 1 Male to 2 Female Aux Cord Connector for iPhone, iPad, Samsung, LG, Tablets, MP3 Players to Speaker, Earphone, Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00LM0ZGK6/...F0W8X8PCX0EXY0

    $45 and you’re set

Any amount of IR headsets can receive from a single transmitter. Two channel means two sets of frequencies for listening to two different audio signals. It doesn't mean only two headsets.

Think of it like AM/FM radio, except line of sight.

Interesting. Never heard of IR headphones but just googled them quickly. I assume he probably doesn't wanna buy 3 new sets of headphones tho... cheapest i found on amazon was around 30 a pop which isn't the best value if they are only used in the cars. With the other options mentioned the kids can keep using whatever headphones they already own.

It's what all the minivans had when they started coming with flip down TVs for the back seat.
