Two different friends in Banff tonight. One of them felt it and the other didn't even realize it happened.

That's super normal. I recall only feeling 2 earthquakes when I lived in an area that had probably 8-12 while I was there. They are quite subtle.

Earthquakes are some interesting shit. Was in a library once studying when a mild one happened. People who were walking around didn't notice anything whereas a few of us who were sitting down in silence felt the ground trembling for a few seconds.

Second one I experienced I was actually in bed. Whole bed actually moved a few inches during the shaking. I had no idea what the hell had just happened. Weirdest sensation ever to have the building you are living in freaking shaking.

Yeah, the one I recall I was standing next to a forklift with pneumatic tires and it started shaking and then getting a bit of a side to side hop going before I realized WtF was happening. Worst place on earth to be - inside a warehouse with shit stacked on racks 24+ feet in the air. They always say "go stand in doorway" but I'm pretty sure overhead doors weighing several hundred pounds, loosely suspended don't count.

This is why its great to live in Alberta. No severe Quakes. Sure BC is warmer and has the ocean, but if the big one hits (and it will eventually) its gonna be flattening.
    SN11 - Nope.

Probably an ice quake or frost quake.
    Hardly the San Andres moving.

Plate tectonics at work here folks.

Some mountains likely just got slightly taller.

I was in Banff/Canmore over the weekend. Didn't feel a fucking thing! Kinda disappointing.

I cared so much I didn't even click the breaking news article.

Meh, an abnormal day in Banff I guess.
Useless small talk can change from "is it cold enough for you?" to "did you feel the earthquake?"
