I've got an old 1080 (non ti) and a 970 sitting around.

Are these worth selling on kijiji?
Yes to both, there's people out there that are out to literally just buy any graphics card because they've sold theirs before they got their new one. According to nicehash, your 1080 still gets around $4/day.

    Here's a 1080(non-TI) that was listed for $750.

Looking at my returns my 3060ti has dropped roughly ~15-20% over the last month as more gpu miners get online. Still profitable but definitely going way slower than Christmas time.

A market that is so easy to get arbed out will never be profitable long term. The easier it is the faster that happens.

what are you mining right now? i noticed my dads 3060ti and 5700xt are doing about 9.80us$ right now but few days ago were over 11us$ with NH.
my 3070 and 1060 are on ethermine right now and daily earning is estimated to be 0.0039 when I remember it was about 0.0045 few days ago

Giving Phoenix/Ethermine a shot and it honestly seems like there's no difference in payrate from Nicehash? Only real difference is that I'm getting paid in ETH vs BTC but when converted back to fiat, the value is still the same?

It varies a lot depending on the time. When stock markets are open they're more profitable because there's more network activity (i think) whereas evenings / early night is rough because idle computer mine away.

Most profitable time for me is typically first thing in the morning, flurry of movements with markets open plus people starting work so their auto mining stops.

Lately I havent had a full day mining as I pause it when doing cad work as it lags fusion

Don't convert to fiat. Sit on it. I wouldn't be surprised to see ETH spike shortly.

Yeah I'm not converting, just using fiat as a reference point.

Eth keeps hitting record highs, don't know where the ceiling is, but its going up. I dont know about spiking though, I'm assuming good for long term growth vs a short term spike.

Any thoughts on this rig for mining? It can be had for around $1450 all in including shipping, and arrives in less than 2 weeks

Is the processor and ram good enough or is it worth upgrading those? Also the 3070 is $300 more...is that worth it at all?

    3070 owner here:

    Getting around $12/day with Ethermine/Phoenix.
Processor/ram doesn't matter, GPU is the only thing that matters.
I think I've seen people get 60MH/s with a 3060Ti which is the same hashrate that you get with the 3070.

Not going to tell you if it's a good value or not, that's up to you to decide.

Cool thanks for the info, just ordered it. added a 4 year warranty for $100 so total came out to $1562. Hopefully crypto is still priced high for at least a few months after i get this. If you're able to get $12/day with your 3070 i'll estimate $11 with this, and then say $2/day for electricity would be $9 net so could pay for itself after 6 months.

are you going to use this computer or strictly for mining?

I looked into this rig back in February for my dad but figured it wasnt worth it as it would take over 6 months to recuperate your investment but if you believe on crypto mining in the long run then it is up to you if it is worthwhile

3070 has the same hashrate as 3060ti of around 62MH/s so about 6-7CAD$/day
if you are not going to use the CPU either you can mine with it too (NiceHash or Monero) for about 0.42$/day

one thing to be aware of Dell is that they use proprietary motherboard and PSU so if those dies or are faulty then you cant just easily go to a computer shop and pick one up.

I assume you are running 2 GPU as my 3070 on Ethermine and TRex is going 62MH/s and daily estimate is about 5-6US$/day

Strictly for mining. I wish i had time to game.

Re: the soldered mainboard, yeah that's exactly why i opted for the extended 4 yr warranty. Figured this thing running 24/7 at max power is probably going to do a number on it lol.

Definitely has risk with an underlying assumption of crypto prices staying high, but i'm just thinking of it like a dividend paying investment (except more fun/hands-on). Worst case if crypto crashes, at least its a decent gaming rig that should have SOME value on the resale market.

Your estimate is more accurate i would say although comparing earnings to dollars doesn't really tell the whole picture as the price fluctuates quote a bit and is also dependant on difficulty and pool luck. 62mh/s for a 3070 is accurate. I get the same on mine. My 3060ti currently only makes 59mh/s as essentially the same power but i suspect i can eek some more out of it by changing PCIE slots. That said, the 3060ti is the winner on price as i scooped a FE from best by for $550 which is almost half the price i am getting my EVGA 3070's for.

To gauge profit based on difficulty and pool luck, looking at eth/100mh/s per day. Currently i am about 0.0054eth per 100mh/s/day. So a 3070 should be about 0.0034eth/day or about $7.20 USD per day.

Ahh shit, yes, I forgot about my other GPU(1660 Super).
@sabad66 , @taemo is right, it's around $6-7/day. There's also a convenient calculator on the Nicehash website to use.

Should also mention that Dell's shipping estimates aren't accurate from what I've read on RFD, they can say that an item is in stock and then turn around to tell you that it's going to be a few weeks/ a month or two before you get your machine.
