Yeah. I was already doing NH mining, so I was tuned for ~94MH/s on the Trex, so I booted up the Trex, but the console output looks like... 14MH/s? Odd. Also searching ethermine.org it shows no stats for me.
yeah takes at least 10-15min before you see more realistic numbers.
    here's mine for example
    https://ethermine.org/miners/2B0FF79...3a4E/dashboard

edit: received my 25cm pcie 16x extension cable and no go, GPU wasnt being detected with extension cable so I may not have choice but to run one of the GPUS directly to the motherboard once the pcie 1x extension comes in and works.

So mining with gpu for ethereum makes more or the same as mining for bitcoin?

You make more mining with Ethereum. SHA-256 (bitcoin) has not been feasible by GPU for at least 5 years now due to the difficulty.

why does nicehash mine in bitcoin by default then.

Nicehash mines in Eth but converts it and pays you out in bitcoin. They take a pool fee for the cost of exchanging it.

So grabbed a “broken” gtx 1080 ti zotac amp extreme core... need some help troubleshooting this thing

Figured the guy bricked it with a bad bios flash or something... so I know the following

    Symptoms:

(I do not I have an inboard gpu on my mobo)

    -slot 0, only card installed;
Black screen in hdmi slot, no input detected in any of the DisplayPort or the dvi
Put working card back in and pc had updated Nvidia driver installed, good card worked perfect with new driver
-slot 2 (recommended over 1 as per mobo, no difference in 1 though) w/good card in 0
PC boots, just enough time to open zgpu, card is recognized (same with in bios), memory reads 0hz for everything
Blue screen, “system thread exception not handled” nvlddmkm.sys failed
Able to run nvflash from troubleshoot cmd window, successfully flashed with the only version for this specific card, nvflash supported same version as well, no change

PC doesn’t seem to crash when in slot 0, no boot loop, just sits there, seems odd, but can’t see anything so who knows what it’s doing?

Fans run as expected and LEDs glow

Card has a push button for I’m assuming some sort of bios reset? Not a switch, just an in and out, if I hold it on boot the LEDs do not light up
Micro usb on the card too, not with the display ports, but on the card beside button for bios, dunno what this is for but box says VR ready? Assuming it’s for that

After reading this thread, tried nicehash with my old pc that I run my Zwift on. Getting about 26MH/s @48-50C on ~200W wall / UPS load. For someone like me with just one card, is it worth doing it? Will take quite a while before can withdraw.

Got this fired up after work, went full retard for a little bit, but myself a wallet, got the T-Rex .bat modified and mining through ethermine.org

Looks like I'm getting 23.4 MH/s on my 3080 and an i7-7700. Seems low, when I check whattomine.com they suggest a 3080 should be closer to 91.50 Mh/s

    Any suggestions?

    I'm seeing ~90MH/s on my 3080

What OC are you running? EVGA Ultra FTW3 here, and I'm 68% power limit, -150 core clock, +900 mem clock. Make sure nothing else is using the GPU. I was still accidentally running nicehash when I started.

Run old drivers, I'm sure 3rd party will be out ASAP as well.

After running for a bit, things seem to have stabilized. 88.6% MH/s without any changes, which seems to be in the right ballpark.

A tad more info about the nvidia limits:

    https://twitter.com/bdelrizzo/status...19264423747590

I don't fully understand how it can be implemented unless they are burning new BIOS into the cards that they are shipping now ... so maybe just new 3060? Otherwise they'd have to have some fucked up DRM that they can push that kind of update remotely to all the cards. No idea yet but curious what happens.

Not sure if eth mining is that much better than NH. I'm showing an estimated 0.0052ETH daily earnings ($10USD), but I don't get paid out until 0.1 ETH min? Unless I hit the time threshhold:
Unpaid balances above 0.05 ETH will be paid out every 7 days
Unpaid balances above 0.01 ETH will be paid out every 14 days.

That feels weird, that I need to wait 14 days for a payout, vs NH which is every 3 hours. NH was also showing me a higher rate/day after calculating power costs (profitability of $12USD/day), so I think I'll be swapping back over. Probably helps that Excavator has a slightly higher rate than t-rex for me, and Excavator has no dev fees (t-rex is 1%).

That's my experience and calculations too. I'm only mining ETH directly to skip the costs of transferring/converting over BTC to ETH. for pure profitability NH looks to be better.

monthly projection of my ETH mining is 0.00856 ETH or about ~96 USD
NH profitability calculator claims a monthly 0.00186266 BTC or 101.20 USD

I think in the end, they will be very similar and results may vary per day, after all with NH you are still mining ETH but for someone else.

You can’t actually “payout” of nicehash till you hit 0.001btc... they just add to your NH wallet every 4hrs. so at $10/day that’s still 6-7days till you can actually do something with it outside of the NH environment

    Rig update:

-gtx 1080 FE, got the mem clock cranked to +850hz, bumped TDP up to 85%. ETHLargement was dialing back a little when it was heating up. Activated custom fan curve in afterburner and it’s way happier. Pretty steady $0.98/4hrs

-gtx 1080 ti: hit it with a heat gun, didn’t help... might end just trying to retrofit everything to the FE for better cooling. Going to prob the board when I have some time first and see if it’s a dead chip somewhere

bummer, did the previous owner of the 1080ti said they modded the BIOS?
if you have both 1080s inserted on the same machine, are they both being detected by GPU-Z?

All I know is the fans had to be replaced... claims it was working after fan replacement and then just died...
He had a benchmark from before it died, TDP was only showing 180w...

Been hit and miss having the ti detected, the one time I was able to open gpu z it showed the card, and 0hz... last attempt I couldn’t get it to boot. Was able to open in safe mode and both cards were showing under device manager, was able to reinstall drivers too but still no good
