Yeah I get that man but look at (A) the price of ETH, (B) the time in market to grow to a coin where was it was so profitable and (C) the amount of ETH trading that goes on to sustain such a vast mining population. Now all that mining power is suddenly getting dropped into a different coin.

My prediction is that any profitable coins are going switch constantly, where large mining outfits will automate this process and take anything worthwhile such that the small-scale miner / casual miners will be bumped out.

Obviously, miners want to be profitable, but there will be me a tipping point for a lot of people where they have to give it up.

I'd love to keep mining casually, so I hope someone smarter than me makes it straightforward to mine while not making $0.50/month net to roast your card.
Break even on the next profitable coin is $0.20 USD/kwh. There are a ton of places with cheap electricity that small time miners can profit in. There is also profit switching miners/os's that do the hard work for you. Plus nicehash.

Its going to be an interesting next couple of months thats for sure. I am fortunate that my rigs of paid for themselves 4x already so really its a no lose situation for me currently. Also incase anyone cares, i switched to RVN a week again to speculatively cash in on the lower difficulty. I expect RVN has the highest chance of being the top coin for for a while.

It could be interesting in the next couple of months. I believe Bitcoin has partially grown to what is it because of the mining ecosystem. Bitcoin truly is the only coin that offers a decentralized mining ecosystem, adding to it's security.

I believe the switch of Ethereum's mining protocol will be it's down fall in the long run. As people have already said in this forum. How many miners, mine and sell Ethereum. Take the mining infrastructure away and we might see Ethereum's market cap slowly erode away and another coin using proof of stake could move up in the top 10. Will be pretty interesting to watch.

    All speculation obviously.

miners are pumping NEOXA, RVN, ERGO and ETC.

personally I moved my rigs to ERGO last week and hoping it wins over kawpaw algo (NEOXA and RVN).

So whattomine is telling me that it's no longer profitable at all to mine. I'm going to wait until the dust settles, but I guess my cards can rest now, and pull solo duty as gaming/transcoding cards.

what algo are you mining? I’m mining ergo right now, pre eth merge it was 1 ergo per day, but now it is down to less than 0.2 ergo per day.

I built a new PC with a 3060 last August and it's fully paid for itself so I'm happy with my meager mining profits before the merge.

still not like ETH but KAS is quite profitable right now
    3070, 5700XT and 2x 3060 for about 2.80 US$/day

RXD, NEXA are very profitable too but I prefer mining through NH for easy BTC payment

kheavyhash is surprisingly efficient, not much heat and the RTX30s are using only 100W

I uninstalled all the mining software. Are you telling me I should reinstall it?

probably not, we dont know for how long this might last but IIRC you have a 3080, that's about 0.75 us$/day not counting electricty cost yet.

Im going to spend some time updating my rig this weekend and flick it back online. Just in time to not need the excessive heat of course. Even if i am in the green, its still better than letting it sit.
