    Default Crypto Mining Thread

Figured I'll start this thread for us miners here, can Mods please move the previous conversations here?

Right now I'm mining primarily with NiceHash with a 3060Ti and 1060 6G.
My other 1060 6GB is mining ETH directly and looking to add one more GPUs if I can find a good one.
I'm also mining RVN once a week with the 3060Ti.

Running T-Rex for mining as I find it the most stable but using NiceHash QuickMiner with my main rig that has 3060Ti for privacy concerns and since I'm getting a good 61.5 MH/s already.

Have a 1000W Gold PSU on my mining rig as I'm looking to run only 3 GPU (MOBO only has 2 1x and 1 16x) with a dedicated basement window blowing cool air to the cards.
Right now they are mining at around 42C.

Cost so far is the wire shelves, PSU, SSD and riser cards (around 400$) excluding the cost of the video cards and spare desktop.

I've seen some PCIE 1x with 4 USB riser ports on Amazon, anyone with experience with those?

Currently using my gaming rig while it's idle (ie. majority of the time).

Running a 3070 with minerstrat mining eth. With the profit switch setup, it's most mining off flexpool or ezil (eth + zil) with a bit of sparkpool sprinkled in depending on whats most profitable at the time.

I really want a Innosilicon A10 Pro+ 6gb ... 720MH/s in one box. Though like most miners they're always sold out and flipped on the secondary market for 5x or more. Anything reasonably priced is typically a scam site.

I'm also just using my desktop when working/playing factorio etc. 1080ti using phoenix miner for eth. 25-30 MH/s, not sure if that is good or not these days.
My old setup of 970s has been put to rest since they don't have enough vram now.

I like this one better, can just enter how many GPU you have and mix and match.

Have a 5700XT and the EVGA 1060 6GB running on my mining rig now.

Found out that the computer doesn't like it when I'm running a PCI-E 1x to 16x riser on the GPU slot so right now the weak ASUS 1060 6GB is offline.
I can't put a videocard on the GPU slot directly as it blocks the PCI-E 1x slot so ordered a PCI-E 16x extension cable and a PCI-E 1x extension cable on Amazon to see which route I want to go.
Ideally I want the GPUs outside of the case for better airflow.

If anyone is serious about GPU mining, you want an open air setup. I used an IKEA cart for 3 years mining with 4x 1080ti . I also bought a floor fan and had it blowing for 3 years on the cards, which never got the GPU fans past 60% at full mining load.

Do watch out for the silicone thermal compound leaking from the GPUs though, as it can coat the fans and cause increased dust buildup.

I want to be serious about GPU mining but its impossible to get any GPU's unless you pay 2-3x the price on ebay.

that's awesome, use wifi and it turns into a portable heater too haha.
actually went to Ikea last weekend to get ideas but I needed wire shelves in the basement anyway and under 50$ was a good deal on Amazon.
have cool outside air flowing through the window in the basement to the cards which is keeping them around 40C and have a big fan ready for spring/summer.

yeah I'm lucky I got the 1060s for cheap, the 5700XT I paid 50$ over retail price but my dad wanted it and it was his money.
can resell it easily on ebay for profit too once our 3060Ti comes in.

saw a 1070 listed on FB yesterday for 350$, I would have picked it but was busy during the day and was gone in 2-3 hours.

was reading that ETH mining will become more difficult later this year, especially with more ASICs coming into the play so it may not be as profitable anymore so definitely don't rush and overspend.

I thought once ETH2 comes out its gameover for GPU (and ASIC?) mining for ETH.

Eth is moving to PoS vs PoW so GPU mining for Eth is going to be essentially non-existent. However there are still many other algos you can mine with a GPU and IMO its more future proof than ASIC mining. Plus resale.

Mining is so volatile, a few years back cards flooded the market after mining became unprofitable. It's definitely a feasible money maker right now (if you can get cards @ MSRP), and having major institutions backing crypto helps.

I would love to get my hands on 10x 3080's for a mining rig - my calculations show that you'd break even after approx 120days (assuming $1200/card making $10/day profit) and after that it's red panty night!

Eth is/has been blowing up. Not sure if it will get to BTC levels.

    Currently mining on a Z820 w/ a 1070 OC.
Mining on my gaming rig with a 3080 anytime I'm not gaming. Both via NH.
    Getting ~120mh/s combined at peak.

    pretty straight forward
    https://ethermine.org/start/

I'm mining ETH with my NVIDIA video card so I'm using T-rex and set payout to my Coinbase Wallet.
Just be aware of payout, unless you have mining rig that can mine 0.1 or 0.05ETH per day, you may be stuck for 14 days payouts. I'm mining at 23.5MHs so I wont be paid until next week.

my dad's 5700XT is mining with NiceHash but told him I'll set it to ETH once we has 0.001 BTC on his NH account.

Is it straight forward - seems quite complex to me personally.

It's straight forward. Took me about 3 mins to get it up and running. I just don't see any stats on the site yet. Not sure how long that takes to update.

go Nicehash and get paid BTC, EZ mode.

Ethereum, just pick a miner depending on your GPU.
configure the appropriate bat file to point to your wallet then run it.
I'm using TREX for NVIDIA and Phoenix for AMD.
You'll have to add these on your antivirus exclusion list as well.

Also OC tune your video card with MSI AfterBurner so that it run higher memory clock rate for better hashrate and consume less watt.

Yeah. I was already doing NH mining, so I was tuned for ~94MH/s on the Trex, so I booted up the Trex, but the console output looks like... 14MH/s? Odd. Also searching ethermine.org it shows no stats for me.

Edit: Nevermind, 1) I forgot to disable nicehash, and 2) I was impatient.
